Megan Fox - Biography

With her mane of lustrous brunette hair, pale green 'come to bed' eyes and her numerous tattoos, it's easy to see why one LA Times columnist branded Megan Fox as "the first bona fide sex symbol of the 21st century".

Some argue that her acting career is almost beside the point. That she has become to the current generation what the likes of Farrah Fawcett or Pamela Anderson were at the very height of their fame – a woman whose beauty comes to be symbolic of a specific era.

While actresses like Jessica Biel worry that their appeal makes it hard for them to be taken seriously in their craft, Megan remains unfazed by her presence at the top of 'sexiest woman' lists.

"I didn't decide I'm going to be an actress because I want to be respected for how I play chess," she says. "Part of Hollywood is being perceived as attractive."

Megan Denise Fox was born on May 16, 1986 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee – the second daughter to Darlene Tonachio and Franklin Foxx, who dropped an 'x' from his surname.

When she was very young, her parents divorced, and she received a strict upbringing from her mother and new stepfather.

As a teenager, she was noticed by modelling scouts and won several competitions. But she dreamed of being an actress. Her career aspirations brought her in for flack from other girls, however – who she says gave her a hard time at school.

Megan had the last laugh, however, when she landed her first acting job in 2001 Olsen twin movie Holiday in the Sun, playing Ashley Olsen's on-screen rival. It went straight to DVD but got the ball rolling on her acting career.

After several low profile parts, she landed a starring role in US series Ocean Avenue and went on to appear in Hope & Faith and Two and a Half Men.

In 2004 she made her big screen debut in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen opposite Lindsay Lohan. But it wasn't until 2007, when she was cast in Transformers that she came to widespread attention.

The media began to take an interest in this outspoken girl who bared a strong resemblance to Angelina Jolie, and seemed to gain as many column inches for her outrageous and bizarre comments as she did for her films.

Wacky claims that she and Zac Efron "are the same person", brutally honest observations that she was "aggressive, hurtful, domineering and selfish" and strange admissions that she's "terrified of dried paper" were just some of the comments which surfaced in interviews.

Not all of it, was meant to be taken as gospel, however, according to Megan. "My sense of humour doesn't translate well into print… I have been told to try and censor myself here and there. I'm trying, but I'm not really succeeding at it," she says.

On the relationship front Megan had an on-off romance with US actor Brian Austin Green since 2004, when the pair met on the set of TV series Hope & Faith.

The brunette beauty - who refutes her reputation as a man-eater, saying: "I've only ever had two boyfriends my whole life," - made things official with Brian in late June 2010. During a holiday in Hawaii the couple tied the knot away from the watchful glare of Hollywood's paparazzi.
The ceremony was so secret that even Megan's parents didn't know about it until afterwards. "Megan gave me a call after the ceremony and then sent a photograph of her and Brian with her iPhone. "My daughter looked very happy in the photograph that she sent me," said her dad.
In fact, the groom's eight-year old son Kassius was the only guest present at the plush Four Season's Resort nuptials.
