Though he engineered one of the most high-profile security breaches in recent memory, self-described "comedy terrorist" Aaron Barschak has apparently got off scot free.

Scotland Yard announced on Monday that the man who donned sunglasses and an Osama Bin Laden-style get-up and crashed Prince William's 21st birthday party last month will not be charged in relation to the headline-making incident. A police spokesperson said the decision not to press charges was made after consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service.

Three hundred guests were celebrating Wills' birthday at Windsor Castle when, during the young Prince's thank-you speech, uninvited party-goer Barschak – wearing a dress, turban and fake beard – seized the microphone and began ranting at the revellers.

As the gatecrasher was removed by royal protection officers, quick-witted Wills laughed off the intrusion, saying: "I didn't know my brother could do an accent like that."

In the aftermath of the breach, called "wholly unacceptable" by Scotland Yard, Chief Inspector Mark Goddard, who was in charge of Windsor security, has been moved to another post. Barschak has since apologised to the Prince for the incident.
