Online’s guide to the royal itinerary below. This will be Harry’s first trip to the US since his infamous holiday in Las Vegas, when he was photographed playing a game of strip billiards. New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who will take Harry on a tour of areas hit by Hurricane Sandy, insists that the royal will be on his best behaviour. "Believe me, nobody's going to get naked if I'm spending the entire day with Prince Harry," he said. "The Prince has said he apologises for his conduct back then. Lots of young people make mistakes."

The statesman added: "I'm thrilled he wants to come and see the destruction himself first hand and he wants to be helpful." Harry's tour will have a serious note, and much of it will be focused on promoting the rehabilitation of injured American and British troops. "He is a soldiers' soldier and will bring a spotlight on what's being done to help these outstanding men and women," said Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Harry’s private secretary. The tour comes a year after Harry's first solo tour to Jamaica in March 2012. Here's a timetable of Harry's stateside adventure… Thursday 9th May – Washington DC After arriving on a commercial flight from London, Prince Harry's first stop will be Capitol Hill and an exhibition staged by the Halo Trust, a charity which helps to clear landmines and other debris of war.
