For the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's death in 2017, Prince William collaborated on two documentaries with his brother, Prince Harry, for the BBC and ITV. At a Kensington Palace screening for the ITV documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, William explained why it would be their final public word on their mother, telling guests: "We won't speak as openly about her again.” The documentaries served as a 'final catharsis' for William's grief, which perhaps explains why he does not wish to take part in any further tributes next year.
