Are Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy giving their past relationship another go? A new report has claimed that the 30-year-old Prince and his ex-girlfriend are considering getting back together after secretly meeting up over the summer.
Harry and Chelsy dated on-off for seven years but split in 2011, shortly after Prince William and Kate's wedding.
The flame-haired royal went on to date dancer and model Cressida Bonas for two years until 2014, while Chelsy, a solicitor, recently ended her relationship with jeweller Charles Goode in January.
"Harry still holds a candle for her," a source said of the prince's former girlfriend
Harry and Chelsy are said to have secretly met up in South Africa over the summer, when the Prince was working on conservation projects as part of his trip to Africa.
"Harry still holds a candle for her," a friend of the ex-couple told The Sun. "They saw each other recently. There's still very much something between them. He has never fallen out of love with Chelsy."
Harry met Chelsy Davy during his Gap Year in South Africa in 2004
The report went on to claim that friends have said that Harry and Chelsy are "openly discussing" a reunion and could meet up again later this year, when the Prince, who turns 31 next week, returns to South Africa and Lesotho for charity engagements.
The source added that it is no coincidence that the Queen's grandson has decided to spend more time in Africa later this year.
Chelsy was invited to Prince William and Kate's wedding in 2011
One of the reasons why Harry and Chelsy, 29, are said to have parted ways was Chelsy's reluctance to join the royal family.
"There's still very much something between them, but Chelsy won't commit yet because she doesn't want to lead a life in the spotlight," the insider said. "Harry's very sensitive to that.
"She's not like other girls; she's strong, independent and a rule-breaker. She does everything on her own terms."
Harry introduced Chelsy to the Queen in 2008, after four years of dating
Harry and Chelsy, a Zimbabwean national and the daughter of a safari farmer and a model, met in Cape Town in 2004 when the Prince was on his Gap Year. Chelsy was introduced to the Queen in 2008 when she attended the wedding of Harry's cousin Peter Phillips to Autumn Kelly.
It was Prince William and Kate's wedding in 2011 that acted as a wake-up call for Chelsy, however, who reportedly said that a life as a Princess was "not one" for her.
Earlier this year while in Australia Harry admitted that he would like to settle down and start a family like his older brother William.
"Of course I would love to have kids right now but there's a process that one has to go through," Harry told Sky News. "Tours like this are great fun. Hopefully I'm doing alright by myself, it would be great to have someone else next to me to share the pressure, but you know, time will come and whatever happens, happens."
