Chelsy Davy has revealed she never "wanted" marriage or motherhood until she met her husband, Sam Cutmore-Scott.

The entrepreneur, who dated Prince Harry on-off for seven years until 2011, shared a rare personal essay on Tuesday to celebrate ten years since founding her Aya Jewels line.

Chelsy, who turns 41 next week, recalled how she met her husband during Covid, aged 35, after years of whirlwind travel when "the only thing I was committed to was having fun".

The couple now has three children, Leo, four, Chloe, three, and Finn, six months, and has settled down in Mauritius.

Sharing a "few words" about the past decade, Chelsy said: "Marriage and motherhood had never been particularly high on my to-do list. Both seemed to represent exactly the things I had spent my adult life avoiding: permanence, responsibility, roots and having to take somebody else’s plans into account.

"It wasn’t that I suddenly developed some great romantic vision of settling down. It was much more instinctive than that. I met Sam and, for the first time, I knew I wanted a family, specifically with him."

She added: "I was also 35 by then, so I can’t give Sam all the credit. Timing, and possibly biology, may have played their part.

"I had never organised my life around having children, and by the time I realised I wanted them, I was very lucky that it was still possible. There is a version of my life in which it didn’t happen, simply because it was never on my radar, and I’m very grateful that it did."

Chelsy shares a new family photo

Alongside her personal essay, Chelsy shared several stunning new family photos, featuring her three children Leo, Chloe, and baby Finn.

In one picture, she laughed as she held Finn while Sam carried Chloe on his shoulders. In a second, her three lookalike children looked adorable as they helped her type on her laptop, while Chloe sketched designs.

Chelsy explained how she's only ever spent nine nights away from her eldest son, Leo, who turns five in January – and five were at the hospital with Finn when he got meningitis at two weeks old.

She discussed how she juggles the "slightly ridiculous reality" of running her business alongside her three small children.

Chelsy said: "There is no neat separation between work and family. Calls get interrupted. Someone is sick. I’m looking at CADs while dealing with a call from the kids’ school. Plans change constantly. Someone always needs something. And I love the juggle.

"Of course there are days when it drives me completely insane. I don’t want to pretend that bouncing a baby while trying to concentrate is some beautiful expression of modern motherhood. Sometimes it is just extremely inconvenient."

Reflecting on the high level of scrutiny they faced, she said previously: "I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope. I was young, I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible."

She stayed friends with Harry after his split, and attended his 2018 wedding to Meghan Markle, alongside another of the Duke's ex-girlfriends, Cressida Bonas.
