The King had a very relatable marriage moment just minutes after delivering his important King's Speech on Wednesday.

Charles, 77, gave one of the longest speeches by a monarch this century at the State Opening of Parliament in the Palace of Westminster, coming in at 1,285 words and lasting 11 minutes and 40 seconds.

It's one of the monarch's most important roles, but moments later, the King experienced a very ordinary husband-and-wife moment with Queen Camilla, 78.

The couple was seen departing from the Sovereign Entrance after the speech and stopped for conversations on their way out. But Charles seemed to be enjoying himself a little too much and became engrossed, with Queen Camilla giving him a gentle tap on the arm, appearing to remind him of their schedule.

Not one to rush, "chatterbox" Charles continued talking for a few moments and rounded up his conversation before dutifully following his wife.

Fans were left delighted by the humorous moment, with one person saying that the Queen was "hurrying" her husband along, telling him to "get a move on".

Writing on social media, another commented: "The Queen reminding her chatterbox King again to stick to the schedule 😅❤️", while one person joked she'd "had enough". "Come on Darling, dont dawdle," said one royal fan.

Hurrying her husband along

It's not the first time Queen Camilla's been left slightly impatient by her husband. In March, Their Majesties visited the Eden Project in Cornwall to mark its 25th anniversary.

The King was soon deep in conversation with the volunteers – so much so that he seemed oblivious to the world around him and accidentally ignored his wife as she tried to get his attention.

The hilarious video, shared by HELLO! on Instagram, saw Queen Camilla giving her husband a series of pokes, but struggling to get his attention. Determined not to give up, however, she tried both his arms and a pat on his waist before eventually patting his arm to turn him around.

Luckily, Charles was left delighted when he realised why, as Camilla was trying to show him an incredible cake recreating a street party scene. One royal fan commented: "Just shows you doesn't matter if you're a King or not."

King Charles's historic speech

The King said the Government will "defend the British values of decency, tolerance and respect for difference under our common flag", as he set out the priorities for Sir Keir Starmer’s administration at the state opening of Parliament.

After the King's Speech, the monarch leaves the House of Lords, and the new parliamentary session begins. Around two hours after the speech, MPs gather in the Commons to begin debating what King Charles has announced.

It was one of the most legislation-heavy speeches of recent years, containing a total of 37 Bills.

Charles opened Parliament for the first time as monarch in November 2023, but read the speech on behalf of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, in 2022.
