Prince Harry is very often a hands-on dad, but on Monday, the Duke of Sussex enjoyed a solo evening out when he headed to the San Laurel at Conrad Los Angeles for a new book launch.

Harry was among the guests as acclaimed chef José Andrés released his latest cookbook, Spain My Way, which celebrates his decades-long career by highlighting recipes from his homeland.

At the event, the royal was seen in a smart navy suit, as he smiled for a photo with the iconic chef. Harry, 41, looked very handsome with his neatly trimmed beard and short hair.

Also featuring on the guest list were conductor Gustavo Dudamel, journalist Maria Shriver, actress Kyra Sedgwick, actor Tyler James Williams and chefs Wolfgang Puck and Roy Choi.

Harry's solo outing came just days before the father-of-two will celebrate his daughter, Princess Lilibet's fifth birthday on Thursday. The youngster had a birthday to remember last year when her parents took her to Disneyland.

Appearing on a show marking the 70th anniversary of the theme park, Harry revealed Lilibet and Prince Archie's reactions when they explored the park, dubbed 'The Happiest Place on Earth'.

"They're like, 'This is amazing!' Like, 'Guys, this isn't even the front of it. Prepare yourself. You're about to be blown away,'" he said. "To see the kids throw themselves into these experiences when they have no idea what they're walking into – it was amazing. And it brings out the kid in you again."

Meghan Markle's recent solo trip

Harry isn't the only one in his family who has headed out for solo trips recently, with his wife, Meghan Markle, flying out to Switzerland last month. Meghan headed to the European nation in order to attend the inauguration ceremony for The Lost Screen Memorial at Geneva's Place des Nations.

Hosted by the World Health Organization and Archewell Philanthropies, the installation features 50 illuminated lightboxes, each displaying the lock screen image of a child who lost their life as a result of online violence and digital harm.

Meghan also opted for a look to match the sombre occasion, a black pantsuit and her hair tied into a tight bun, the only colour coming from her Logan Hollowell diamond and emerald chain necklace.

"Behind me stands The Lost Screen Memorial," the mother-of-two started. "Not statistics. Not avatars. Not data points. Children. Each name belonged to a child who was loved beyond measure. A child whose laughter once filled a kitchen. Whose shoes once waited by a front door. Whose future once felt limitless."

She also shared stories of youth who'd tragically taken their own lives or been directly harmed by the messaging delivered by social media and internet algorithms. "But these outcomes are not inevitable. And prevention begins with one simple principle: Children must be safe by design, not safe by chance."
