It's a universal truth that it's no fun not getting your invite to a particularly exclusive party. But where there are royal relationships on the line and existing tensions in the family, who is allowed onto the guest list and who is left with an empty calendar can be extremely telling.

Prince Harry wasn't invited to Peter Phillips wedding

A Man Down

Peter Phillips' marriage to Harriet Sperling was cause for celebration as Princess Anne's son grinned happily, his new bride just as delighted on their special day at All Saints' Church in Cirencester.

King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Princess Kate were all in attendance but Prince Harry was left off the guest list. A friend told HELLO! exclusively that the Duke of Sussex has "lost touch" with his cousin.

Meghan Markle wasn't allowed to visit the family at Balmoral

Scottish Estate Debate

Journalist and biographer Tom Bower wrote in Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors that Meghan was 'unwelcome' at Balmoral.

Reportedly, she had opted not to visit the Queen at their Scottish castle while the Queen was alive. King Charles apparently thought it was "unacceptable" to visit as the Queen was soon to pass.

Beatrice and Eugenie are reportedly banned from attending Ascot this year

Not Off to the Races

Beatrice and Eugenie are fixtures at the Royal Ascot races but, according to The Mail on Sunday, the palace has decided that they will not be invited to attend this year.

According to the report, they are not expected to appear in the Royal Box or have any part in the carriage procession.

Sarah and Andrew were not invited to join the family at Sandringham

Christmas Family Fracture

Sandringham is a fixture of the Royal Family's routine, but in 2025, both Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were asked not to join the family for their Christmas celebrations.

The ban came in the midst of accusations regarding Andrew's ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew denies any wrongdoing, while Sarah has consistently apologised for her friendship with Epstein.

Princess Anne was absent from Prince George's christening

Holy Ties

Princess Anne has been absent from several royal events, but most notably was omitted from the invitation list for Prince George's christening.

Prince William and Princess Kate opted for a smaller ceremony, keeping the invite small and exclusive.
