King Charles expressed his appreciation for a sweet picture drawn by a young girl on Sunday. The monarch was presented with a drawing of himself wearing a blue suit and tie as he arrived at Flitcham church on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
Olivia Rickards, aged seven, was eager to present the King with her artwork and had even written a heartwarming note that read: "Dear King Charles, thank you for looking after England, you did a wonderful job."
Charles responded graciously, thanking the young girl for the gift. "At least I’m smiling in the picture," he joked. The youngster, who was joined by her father, Terrence, was rewarded for her creativity with a handshake from the King.
Olivia, who wore a pink frock with a flower pattern, looked delighted with the reaction, beaming up at Charles as he gratefully received the gift.
The monarch had dressed smartly for the occasion, donning a grey suit, pale blue shirt and a cream handkerchief in his left breast pocket. He arrived at the church in his Lotus Electre, a £160,000 all-electric SUV he purchased last year, and was seen strolling around the church grounds with Rev Canon Dr Paul Williams, the rector of Sandringham.

His attendance in church likely came as a welcome relief to the King, who had just completed a busy week. Last Monday, he received former Prime Minister Keir Starmer's resignation, shortly after which he welcomed new leader Andy Burnham to Buckingham Palace, where he invited him to form a new government during a private meeting.
Then on Wednesday, Charles attended the opening of the Royal Horticultural Society Sandringham Flower Show, of which he has been a patron since 2024.

A member of the public attending the show told His Majesty: "I'm the same age as you. You are looking good!", to which the King replied in good humour: "It gets much harder, doesn't it?"
Nevertheless, his wife Camilla is more reassuring about her husband's resilience, having previously described him as a "mountain goat".
The following day, the couple arrived at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, where they were pictured stepping out of Doctor Who's TARDIS. They arrived at Glasgow's Hydro stadium on Thursday, where an almighty cheer greeted them before joining Andy Burnham in the Royal Box.
