King Charles left frustrated as he's pestered by troublesome bee on royal engagement – watch

A frustrated King Charles batted away a bee as he joined Queen Camilla for a first at a royal residence this week. 

The King, 77, and Queen, 79, attended the first RHS Sandringham Flower Show, held on the Royal Estate in Norfolk, on Wednesday. 

They arrived at the event, the first RHS show to be hosted at a royal residence, by horse-drawn carriage, travelling down from Sandringham House through the Old Norwich Gates. 

However, the King had to grit his teeth as he was pestered by a troublesome bee getting in his vision, swatting it away with his hand.

Queen Camilla, however, soon got the giggles as she was presented with a large knitted radish. 

The event was one of the couple's last before the summer break, having also attended the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on Thursday night, at which they spectacularly arrived in Doctor Who's time-travelling Tardis. 

Does King Charles have a short temper? 

Luckily, the King managed to keep his cool after dealing with the fly. 

In the past, Charles has been said to have a "sparky temper", though royal photographer Arthur Edwards says Camilla is "perfect" for the King and has helped calm him down. 

The King looked agitated at his coronation in 2023, with a lip reader claiming he said: "We can never be on time… there's always something. This is boring."

It followed the famous pen incident of 2022, when Charles was caught on camera airing his frustration after his pen got caught leaking. 

"I can't bear this thing!" he was heard exclaiming at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland. 

Royal fans have been left delighted by the characterful moments, as it shows King Charles is just like the rest of us when something doesn't go to plan!

Queen Camilla pestered by a bee

Queen Camilla suffered her own insect moment during the US State Visit in May. 

She was forced to break official protocol during an official tribute in Virginia at the Arlington National Cemetery.

During a moment of silent remembrance, a bee flew into the vision of the King's wife, and she was forced to break composure to swat it away, only for it to fly towards Charles. 

The late Queen Elizabeth II was also forced to unexpectedly deal with a swarm of bees when she reviewed the Grenadier Guards at Windsor on an engagement in 2003. Luckily, her husband, Prince Philip, was on hand to help out. 

Beekeeping has become something of a royal hobby in recent years, with King Charles, the Princess of Wales, and Meghan Markle all known to be keen apiarists.
