July was a busy month at Princess Diana's former home, the Althorp Estate.

Not only did Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, pay a visit to the Northamptonshire estate, the current residents, Diana's brother, Earl Charles Spencer, and his wife, Countess Cat Spencer, also welcomed a new addition.

Taking to Instagram, Cat shared her delight at the new family member, writing: "Our little family is complete!" alongside a video of a puppy snuggling up to their other dog, Freya.

"Meet baby Phoenix, our new Eurasier who’s a half-sister to Freya," Cat continued, sharing that the new dog is extra special.

"She is @charles.earl.spencer and my wedding present to each other, and we've been waiting impatiently for weeks." Explaining where the new pet came from, Cat added: "Huge thank you to Natalie @northlakeseurasiers for yet another perfect bundle of fluff!"

Indeed, Phoenix does appear to be a perfect bundle of fluff, with Cat cuddling up to the dog in a selfie. Earl Charles appears equally enamoured, sharing that this kind of dog has been a constant in his life since he and his late sister, Princess Diana, were children.

Posting a photo of himself as a little boy with another fluffy dog, and a photo of his new puppy, Earl Charles wrote: "60 years ago, me in the garden of our childhood home - Park House, Sandringham - with Saskia; then, this morning, with two of her distant descendants."

Althorp additions

Though Cat said their family is "complete" thanks to the new dog, we suspect Earl Charles will continue adding to their menagerie of animals. Earlier in July, he revealed he'd added four new swans to the waters on the estate, gleefully noting on Instagram: "I've just introduced these four beautiful, young, black swans (two male, two female) to Althorp's Round Oval Lake. Their plumage will darken as they age."

On his connection to the elegant birds, he continued: "These were a favourite breed in childhood - so exotic (they are Australian), and gorgeous. Pleased to report that they've settled in very happily."

Charles and Cat also announced the arrival of two new alpacas in May, naming one Inca and one Sedona, after where the newlyweds got married in May.
