Prince Harry's recent visit to the UK has reportedly included a poignant visit to his late mother's family home.
After what would have been her 65th birthday on 1 July, the royal was seen leaving Princess Diana's 13,000-acre ancestral home in Northamptonshire on Friday, according to The Sun. Althorp House has been home to the Spencer family for five centuries and is where the late Diana spent part of her childhood.
The estate, where Harry's uncle Charles Spencer now lives, is also where the late Princess of Wales is buried on a secluded island. While Meghan Markle previously visited her late mother-in-law's grave in 2022, Harry's two children have not been before.
The Sun previously reported Harry wanted to take his young children to visit where their late grandmother was laid to rest while visiting the UK. The Duke of Sussex has travelled to the UK with his wife, son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet, this month for the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Althorp House
The Spencer family bought Althorp House back in 1508. After growing up at Park House, Diana moved to Althorp when she was 14 following the death of her grandfather, upon which her father inherited the 8th Earl Spencer title.
While the estate is open to the public annually in July and August, Diana's final resting place is not accessible to the public. Following her tragic death died in 1997, the royal was laid to rest on a private tree-covered island in the grounds.
The estate is currently home to Diana's brother Charles, 9th Earl Spencer. "I'm very conscious always that I'm just passing through," Charles told CBS in 2015.
"I've still got little children 'cause I've got quite a range of kids. But they go down the main staircase on trays, you know, like breakfast trays, really fast. And I just think that's great. You gotta enjoy the place!"
Harry's family reunion
Along with reconnecting with the Spencer side of the family, Harry paid a visit to his father last week. After attending the Invictus one-year-to-go event on Friday morning, Harry's wife and children joined him for a family reunion with King Charles.
HELLO! can confirm that Harry travelled to his father's Gloucestershire residence, Highgrove House, where he was hosted by the monarch and Queen Camilla.
The visit marked the first time since Archie and Lilibet had seen their grandfather since the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.
