Crown Princess Mette Marit is a royal bombshell in never-before-seen photo from honeymoon alongside Prince Haakon

Crown Princess Mette Marit and Prince Haakon have been married for 25 years and marked the occasion with a set of special photos on Monday.

While so many fans were dazzled by the beautiful official portrait shared by the royal couple, we couldn't help but linger on a special snap taken from their 2001 honeymoon in Long Island, which was also shared in the post.

"Thank you," the couple penned alongside a red love heart, adding: "25 years."

The photos in question saw the Crown Princess look every inch a royal bombshell wearing a pink bikini top as she sat in the sand with her new husband. Glowing with a natural sun tan, Mette Marit looked happier than ever, her platinum locks blowing in the sea breeze. 

Another saw Mette Marit flaunting her golden sun tan in all its glory as she posed underneath a floral umbrella, the sand underneath covered with beach paraphernalia including a lunchbox, rubber ring and buckets and spades.

The equipment would likely be for Mette-Marit's then young son, Marius Borg Høiby, whom she welcomed with Norwegian entrepreneur Morten Borg, who accompanied the newlyweds on their post-wedding trip.

Another photo of the couple from the special time saw them showing off their new gold wedding bands against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. 

Challenging time for Princess Mette-Marit and Prince Haakon

The treasured photographs were shared at a challenging time for the royal couple.

Mette-Marit is currently still recovering from her lung transplant. The royal received the life-changing operation in Jun after her pulmonary fibrosis – a condition which makes it harder to breathe – worsened. 

The couple has reportedly postponed a gala night and other events to mark their anniversary. 

The latest with Mette-Marit's son Marius Borg Høiby

While the Crown Princess is going through a lot with her health, her son Marius has been under house arrest since 14 July, being required to wear an ankle bracelet.

Marius, 29, was found guilty on two counts of rape, alongside other offences on 15 June 2026. He was cleared of two other charges of rape.

His detention is now due to end on 7 September, although it's possible that further filings to keep him from being released may be made.
