A "proud" Prince William has shared a heartfelt personal message for a cause close to his heart following a secret trip with Princess Kate over the weekend.
After spending the weekend in Scotland with his wife, the royal resurfaced online on Monday to share his support for Tusk’s Wildlife Ranger Challenge, which took place on Saturday 19 September. The royal has been the Royal Patron of Tusk, a charity focused on conservation and community development across Africa, since 2005.
The challenge is an annual fundraising campaign where rangers from across 21 African countries compete in a 21km race.
"Yesterday, ranger teams gathered at hub events in Kenya, Zambia, South Africa and Uganda, while others took part from their own sites across the continent in support," Tusk captioned a collection of images from the event, which was posted on social media on Sunday.
"Together, they took on the 21km race, with up to 22kg of kit on their backs. Finish lines crossed side by side, teammates pulling each other up the last stretch, quiet exhaustion and loud celebration in equal measure. The post continued: "To every ranger who has taken part in this year's challenge, and to the teams behind them, thank you. To our partners and funders, thank you for making it possible."

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited the Isle of Bute on 17 September to celebrate the island's community spirit and volunteering ethos. During their trip, the royal couple, who also hold the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay titles, helped pick up litter from Ettrick Bay Beach and played shinty.
Following their official visit, William and Kate spent the weekend in Scotland. They are thought to have travelled to Royal Deeside where Kate spent two nights before returning to Windsor alone on Saturday morning.
