Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to take police to court over his arrest
It's been reported that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor will take Thames Valley Police to court over allegations that searches of his homes may have broken the law.
According to The Telegraph, the former prince has been granted permission to challenge whether the force acted lawfully over the searches relating to his arrest in February. Andrew lodged a judicial review earlier this year, which was recently approved by a High Court judge.
A private High Court hearing held on Thursday will decide whether to release certain court documents relating to the judicial review.
The former Duke of York was arrested in February on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office on 19 February. He was questioned for nearly 12 hours at Aylsham police station in Norfolk before being released under investigation.
The arrest came after allegations he shared sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy between 2001 and 2011.
The King stripped his brother of both his right to be a prince and his dukedom late last year over his links to the convicted sex offender.
