His Majesty King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla have been happily married for 21 years now, after tying the knot in 2005 at Windsor Guildhall. The royal couple rarely show public displays of affection, similarly to other members of the family like Prince William and Princess Catherine, who normally keep their outward displays of love for times behind closed doors. However, Charles and Camilla couldn't resist a smooch in 2005, when they were in their honeymoon period.
The royals were seen locking lips briefly at a polo match, just months after they said 'I do'. The cameras caught the moment during the Burberry Cup at Cirencester Park Polo Club on 17 June. Charles was playing for team Highgrove, alongside his son, Prince William and the father-son duo celebrated a win that day. The kiss took place during the presentation ceremony following the match.
Other royal PDAs
The royals are well-known for their love of polo, and Princes William and Harry have both followed in their father's sporting footsteps. In 2022, William and his wife Princess Catherine shared a rare PDA as the Prince played in the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup 2022 at Guards Polo Club. Instead of locking lips, the pair opted for a peck on the cheek in front of the media.
In recent years, we've seen William and Catherine share more and more PDA moments, mostly subtle displays of affection like a hand hold or a hand placed gently on the back. At the Digger premiere in September 2026 in London, Prince William couldn't seem to keep his hands off his wife, often placing his hand on her back as she walked around.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have never been afraid to show their love in public, and are often seen holding hands or touching each other's arms. During their Australia tour, the Sussexes shared a kiss on the lips, revealed in a clip that Meghan shared to her own Instagram account. The couple was seen exchanging a smooch on the lips before walking onto the stage together holding hands. The video was set to Love Is in the Air by John Paul Young, with a caption reading: "Australia, you have our hearts."
Are royals allowed to kiss in public?
While members of the royal family are rarely pictured kissing, there are no official rules around kissing or PDA in public. Of course, if they are senior royals attending official duties, then a level of professionalism must be maintained but fans certainly do love to see a sweet moment. Prince William and Catherine's balcony kiss on their 2011 wedding day has become one of the most iconic royal smooches of all time.
