There's one subject at school Prince Archie doesn't seem to be a fan of. While in Nottingham on Thursday for a string of events, Prince Harry revealed that his seven year old can do without maths.

As he and Meghan Markle arrived at the Community Recording Studio for their first stop of the day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chatted with well-wishers outside of the youth and community charity. During their walkabout, Harry revealed to a group of students that he loves maths, also sharing: "My son turned around to me and said, 'Can I go to a school that doesn't do maths."

Archie and his little sister, Princess Lilibet, began their first year at a British school last month following their family's move to the UK, entering Year 3 and Year 1, respectively.

Harry has praised British schools in the past. At the 2025 WellChild Awards, singer Joss Stone recalled a conversation she had with the Duke at the event, telling HELLO!: "He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children. It was nice to share that with him because it's exactly why we felt drawn to come back – for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends, and a strong sense of belonging and, most importantly, in a safe environment."

Just two days after starting the term, the Sussex children changed schools due to security concerns. Sources close to Meghan and Harry made it clear that there was no issue with the school itself, but instead with the practicalities of getting them there and back. Heavy traffic in the area and the distance between the school and where they are living are thought to have been contributing factors, putting their private security team under strain. One incident made it difficult for their vehicles to stay in convoy, which raised further concerns.

"It's a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents. It was perfect for them in every way and the children really enjoyed their time there," a friend of the couple told HELLO!.

"They really wanted to make it work, but they had to make a difficult decision based on the fact that the team couldn’t make the school run operationally secure."

The children have since settled nicely into their new school. A source has told HELLO!: "They've got the kids settled. Archie and Lili are really enjoying school."

Last month, Harry shared with Canadian TV network CTV: "The kids are happy in school, and it gives me a chance to really focus on Invictus in Birmingham."
