Hollywood's leading ladies were working off the same page as they picked their all-important Oscar gowns. This year's key trend was the off-the-shoulder gown, which proved an elegant choice for a host of style-conscious celebrities. Two-time best actress winner [Hilary Swank] worked the asymmetric look in black Atelier Versace, while Bond girl [Rosamund Pike] opted for a Roland Mouret design in pale primrose.
Although it was a rainy Sunday night in Los Angeles nothing could dampen the spirits of There Will Be Blood actor [Daniel Day-Lewis] at the Oscars ceremony. As last year's best actress, The Queen star [Helen Mirren], presented him with the film industry's biggest prize, he joked: "That's the closest I'll ever come to getting a knighthood".

Before Sunday night's prizegiving kicked off inside the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, the world's fashionistas were keeping a keen eye on the style statements being made outside. And the A list certainly didn't disappoint this year, as they sashayed their way down the red carpet in a stunning array of gorgeous gowns which matched the famous walkway.
With the last trophy claimed, the night was still young for attendees of this year's Academy Awards. Winners, nominees and famous faces went on to celebrate at high-profile parties around LA.
