Scotland's Isle of Bute is abuzz with wedding talk as rumours swirl that Stella McCartney plans to wed there next month.

Stella, the designer daughter of Beatle Paul McCartney, was said to be planning to tie the knot with fiancé Alasdhair Willis at Saddell Beach – her late mum Linda McCartney's favourite place – on the nearby Mull of Kintyre. However, now it looks like the 31-year-old bride-to-be will wed at Mount Stuart House, the ancestral home of former Formula One star Johnny Dumfries.

An A-list celebrity wedding with the likes of Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss would be a significant boost tourism boost for the idyllic region, and the mere prospect has locals in a tizzy. However, everyone seems to be tight-lipped on whatever plans might exist. "There's a great deal of secrecy on the island at the moment," said chairman of the Bute Marketing group Charles Soane, who confirmed the main hotels have a block booking for the end of August.

Though a spokesperson has denied reports of a pending Mount Stuart wedding for Stella and Alasdhair, a staff insider reportedly confirmed the date was set and plans are well underway.
