Dinner at the hotel's Beach Bar & Dining – all hanging greenery, woven pendant lights, curved banquettes and sun-drenched corners – was exactly what a beachside dinner should be: fresh, unfussy and full of flavour.
We started with the salt and pepper squid – perfectly crisp with lemon mayo, chilli and rocket – before sharing steamed Cone Bay barramundi, served with zucchini scales, pumpkin and ginger purée and the very hearty Black Angus MB3 rump, served simply with chips and peppery rocket. And dessert – a deconstructed matcha and strawberry cheesecake – was the ideal sweet finish.

There was live music and a lively atmosphere in the bar for those wanting a fun night out, but equally plenty of quieter corners for a relaxed drink, and of course the famous beer garden outside, with views of the beach.
The next morning, Coogee Bay's new breakfast offering made it tempting to linger a little longer. Served at Beach Bar, just steps from the sand, the menu is built around fresh, made-daily dishes and quality coffee.

The coffee is excellent too, and the warm, upbeat staff add to the easy charm, making the whole experience feel effortlessly welcoming.
That's ultimately the charm of staying here: it lets you tap into Sydney's beachside glamour, but without the chaos.
