Chelsea Clinton has lived much of her life in the public eye. She was just 13 years old when her father, Bill Clinton, became the 42nd President of the United States in 1993. As a result, the public has witnessed her journey from adolescence into adulthood, and her transformation has been heavily documented.
From her natural, auburn corkscrew curls to a sleek blonde bob, from walking down the aisle in a breathtaking wedding gown to embracing a softer, wavy blonde style that has gradually deepened into a richer brunette over time, Chelsea has certainly evolved and experimented with her look through the years.
Who could forget when she stepped out in a plunging black dress with a straightened bob and heavy makeup for the Versace show in 2002?

This is perhaps due to the bullying she faced as a pre-teen. "Maybe because I've had so much vitriol flung at me for as long as I can literally remember, people saying awful things to me even as a child, I've never found it productive, personally, to engage in that way," she previously told The Guardian.

"I was picked on at elementary school by some not very nice people – generally boys – who made fun of my appearance or locked me in my locker to see if state police would show up," she recalled to Big Issue.
In honor of the writer’s 46th birthday on February 27, HELLO! takes a closer look at her transformation – from her early days in the White House to building her life in New York City, tying the knot, and embracing motherhood.
Chelsea moved from Arkansas to the White House when her father was sworn into presidency in 1993. The former First Daughter’s appearance, particularly her striking strawberry-blonde curls, quickly became a major topic of media discussion.
"I was very aware of comments about my appearance in the media when I was young," she told Big Issue. "I was 12! And that there are like these older men pontificating about how a 12-year-old looks is weird, at best, and really disgusting and cruel and creepy."
"I give my mom — and my dad, but mainly my mom — a lot of credit for the sense of self that I had ... and how I felt about myself and not what other people were saying to me," she added.
Chelsea left the White House to study history at Stanford University in 1997. "I love Stanford, I adore it, it's a fabulous place," Chelsea told Stanford Magazine. She still sported her natural curls with a polished appearance and often wore turtle neck sweaters.
After graduating from Stanford, Chelsea travelled to the United Kingdom to study a Master's in International Relations at Oxford University. She rocked a sleek blonde bob and took a greater interest in fashion as she attended Versace's show in Paris.
After she graduated from Oxford, she moved to New York and landed a job at McKinsey & Co. Chelsea stayed true to the refined tailoring that peppered her wardrobe but made more room for experimentation. She graced the red carpet for a New York movie premiere in a brown blouse with an unbuttoned, plunging neckline multiple, a midi black pencil skirt adorned with a tulle trim, and pointed-toe heels. Her blonde locks were now longer and styled into a soft blowout.
Chelsea looked stunning during her wedding to Marc Mezvinsky in 2010. The former First Daughter wore a strapless Vera Wang gown that featured a full tulle skirt and an embellished bodice completed with a long veil. Her luscious blonde locks were swept back into an elegant updo.
"Mark and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year." Chelsea shared in 2014, noting that the couple were expecting a baby girl. "Marc and I are full of love, awe and gratitude as we celebrate the birth of our daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky," she tweeted five months later. The couple welcomed their son Aidan in 2016 and their third child, Jasper, in 2019.
Chelsea’s style has become more relaxed over the years, with her hair naturally deepening in color and taking on a straighter, sleeker look over time. However, she's continued to retain her polished take on dressing.
