Baby's first tooth

Jesse Buckley has revealed that her eight-month-old daughter, Isla, has welcomed her first tooth!

Jessie revealed her little girl's name in her acceptance speech, sharing: “And Isla, my little girl, who is eight months, who has absolutely no idea what’s going on and is probably dreaming of milk, but this is kind of a big deal and I love you, and I love being your mum and I can’t wait to discover life beside you."

Backstage, she admitted it felt like a "crazy alchemy" that she won on what was also her first Mother's Day in the UKL.

"My daughter got her first tooth this week. I woke up with her lying on my chest, snuggling me, and I feel like what a gift to get to explore motherhood through this incredible mother that Agnes is and was [in Hamnet], and then to become one myself, and then to receive this recognition of the incredible role mothers play in our world on this day is something I will never, ever forget."

A timely win

Michael B. Jordan says his win for Sinners "feels timely".

"I am here because of the people who came before me - Sidney and Denzel, Halle and Forrest - and all those actors who graced the stage, not looking for awards," he shared with press.

"They were artists who want to do the work, and that is what I want to focus on, the work."

Sinners genesis

Backstage, winners are still celebrating.

Ryan Coogler won Best Original Screenplay for Sinners, and admitted he was writing the characters of Smoke and Stack for Michael B Jordan from the start.

"But he called me before I could call him," Ryan shared, revealing that Michael wanted him to come on board another project,  forcing him to reveal the early stages of Sinners

Hollywood studio success

Tonight was a big night for Warner Bros, months after the studio put itself up for sale last year, and looks set to be bought out by Paramount.

The studio saw three of its films win 11 different awards at the ceremony, including six trophies for One Battle After Another, four for Sinners, and one for Weapons.

Their success comes after host Conan O'Brien kicked off the night with a monologue that immediately included digs at both Paramount and Netflix, who entered a bidding war for the studio.

Signing off!

Make sure you stay tuned for more from our reporter at the ceremony for special inside access to the winners' room, but I'm signing off for the night.

Thanks for following along for another Academy Awards with us, my peanut gallery was deeply sated with a majority of the wins tonight. And we'll be back, same place, same time (hopefully) for the 99th Academy Awards next year!

EJAE's bucket list

Oscar winner EJAE admitted performing at the Oscars "was not on my bucket list because I didn't think it was possible".

"But to be a Korean American woman on the stage.. is what we are so proud of," she told press.

Best Picture is...

And Best Picture goes to... One Battle After Another!

After a hot race against Sinners, Paul Thomas Anderson's ensemble political dark comedy ultimately prevailed after being pegged as a frontrunner early on, rounding out the night with six total wins.

Best Actress now!

And tonight, Best Actress goes to...Jessie Buckley for Hamnet!

Of all the above the line prizes tonight, this one felt like the most predictable heading into the ceremony. Jessie won every major precursor heading into the Oscars, and for good reason, this is a richly deserved win!

MBJ is the moment

When Michael B Jordan's name was read out, the press room exploded. Over 100 journalists stood to give him a standing ovation - what a moment.

Once again, we are GOLDEN!

It happened, it happened! "Golden" won Best Original Song, the very first k-pop song to do so, and yes, we're thrilled here at HELLO!

However, one of the night's worst moments came when EJAE's co-writers were played off while delivering their speech. When she requested the camera for five more minutes, they instead cut to commercial. The sound and music team this year has really been dropping the ball on giving its winners their dues.

Best International Feature

The many nominations telegraphed this one, Norway's Sentimental Value won Best International Feature.

Director Joachim Trier accepted the prize (following a powerful political statement from presenter Javier Bardem), joined by nominated cast members Renate Reinsve, Inga Ibsdotter Lileaas, Elle Fanning and Stellan Skarsgard.

We're living Golden!

The voices of Huntr/x, aka Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, broke out their long-awaited and almost operatic rendition of "Golden" shortly before the presentation of Best Original Song.

While it was far too short (FAR too short), it was still an epic showcase that will hopefully precede a well-deserved win.

More of the technical wins

Andy Jurgensen took home Best Editing for his work on One Battle After Another, while Autumn Durald Arkapaw won Best Cinematography for Sinners. Not only did Autumn become the first woman of color to be nominated in her category, she is now the first woman to win the Oscar. History being made!

The sound, the score

The Bridesmaids cast (icons, all of them, honestly) presented Best Original Score to Ludwig Göransson for Sinners, his third Oscar win (and his second for a Ryan Coogler movie after Black Panther).

Best Sound went to Brad Pitt's F1, the first win for a film that many were surprised to see in the mix for Best Picture to begin with. But it was always going to be a threat in the technical categories, they go vroom-vroom!

A Bridesmaids reunion!

They are in gowns, but there will be no street bathroom emergencies here! The ladies of Bridesmaids, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Ellie Kemper reunited to award Best Original Score and Achievement in Sound.

A powerful documentary section

Jimmy Kimmel managed to get in a few digs at President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump, whose own documentary Melania came out earlier this year, while presenting the documentary winners.

Cassanda Kulukudis' fave moments

Cassanda Kulukudis is the first-ever Oscar winner for Casting, and has been working with Paul Thomas Anderson since they were "babies".

Of her favorite on-screen moments that made her know she had made the right choices?

When "Teyana cracks" during the letter scene, and "Leo talking about how he can't do his daughter's hair".

The technical categories

Frankenstein won Best Production Design, with the trophies going to Tamara Deverell and Shane Vieau.

Avatar: Fire and Ash won Visual Effects, with another musical play-off really turning the crowd against the musical producers at the ceremony.

Oh, Hubbell!

The Katie to Robert Redford's Hubbell, Barbra Streisand honored her late The Way We Were co-star, describing him as a "brilliant," subtle actor."

"Bob had a real backbone, on and off the screen," she said, recalling how the Sundance Institute founder, an "intellectual cowboy," she said, initially found Hubbell to have none.

"A legend with no end"

Rachel McAdams, the late Diane Keaton's co-star on The Family Stone, honored her by relaying a quote she often cited from the Girl Scouts, "Make new friends, but keep the old; One is silver, the other is gold."

The In Memoriam

Oof, this In Memoriam is going to be brutal. Conan started off by introducing Billy Crystal to kick off an emotional tribute to Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

Then Rachel McAdams came out to pay tribute to some of the ladies of film we lost this past year, Diane Ladd, Catherine O'Hara, Diane Keaton, and Claudia Cardinale, especially discussing her work with Diane. onThe Family Stone in tears. It's a tough watch!

New York WriterNew York

Cue the tears

The in memoriam began with a tribute to Rob Reiner lead by Billy Crystal, who he directed in When Harry Met Sally.

He was then joined on the stage by the likes of Kiefer Sutherland, Demi Moore, Mandy Patinkin, Meg Ryan, Jerry O'Connell, Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, and Cary Elwes, among others.

An extra tough in memoriam

Over at HELLO!'s New York City office, we have been bitterly anticipating what a heavy this in memoriam would be, given the greats we have lost in the past year, among them Catherine O'Hara, Diane Keaton, Robert Redford, and the benevolent Hollywood power couple that was Rob and Michele Reiner.
