George and Amal Clooney opened up about the life advice they have given their eight-year-old twins. The couple share two kids, Alexander and Ella, who were born in June 2017.
During an interview with British Vogue on the red carpet for the A King's Trust Celebration at the Royal Albert Hall, George and Amal share an insight into their distinct parenting style when asked what life advice they've given their kids.
"Don't mix grain and grape, I think that's important for the children to know, don't mix the two," said George. Amal then offered up a more serious response on the topic. "I think we want them to stay curious, ask lots of questions, and challenge the things that don't make sense to them, like much of what is going on in the world," she shared.
"See my wife, she gives an elegant answer and I give the important answers," added George. "Ask your dad when it comes to drinks," said Amal.
The 65-year-old and his barrister wife tied the knot back in 2014 at the Aman Canal Grand Hotel in Venice. The international human rights lawyer graced down the aisle in an off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta wedding gown.
HELLO! exclusively covered the wedding and the ceremony was officiated by the former Mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni. The couple welcomed their twins, Alexander and Ella, in 2017.
Elsewhere during the red carpet interview, Amal revealed that she had surprised her husband on his birthday in May. "I surprised him on his birthday actually with a number of things," she shared. "Yeah, she had friends of mine show up," added George.
He continued: "It's a dangerous thing to surprise someone when they're 65 because they could drop. You know, that could be the end of it. You have to be very careful when you surprise people. Well I'm still standing."
Amal's outfit
For the star-studded occasion, Amal revived an archival Alexander McQueen gown from the brand's autumn/winter 2007 runway, titled In Memory of Elizabeth Howe.
The gold gown boasted a V-neck with cap-sleeves and featured a figure-hugging silhouette. The entire garment was embellished with intricate gold sequins and Amal styled the dress with a pair of matching pointed-toe heels, gold earrings, and a metallic clutch bag.
The archival number was previously worn by Cameron Diaz in May 2007 for the Tokyo premiere of Shrek the Third. In 2010, following the designer's death, the dress was sold at Bonhams. It was auctioned once more in December 2024 at Sotheby’s Fashion Icons sale for $114,000.
