Long before they were co-stars, George Clooney "hated" Brad Pitt after he landed the role of J.D in Thelma & Louise instead of him.

While they formed a great friendship years later, the same can't be said for some other stars, who, despite portraying the best of friends on-screen, were feuding off-camera.

From well-documented fallouts like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall, to warring co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who took their feud all the way to court.

Discover some of the famous co-stars who were secretly feuding behind the scenes.

Things got so bad with Will Smith and Janet Hubert, who played 'Aunt Viv,' on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, that Janet was replaced by a different actress in season three.

Speaking about their feud, Will previously said: "I can say straight up that Janet Hubert wanted the show to be The Aunt Viv of Bel Air Show, because I know she is going to dog me in the press. She has basically gone from a quarter of a million dollars a year to nothing. She's mad now but she's been mad all along. She said once, 'I've been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.'"

The pair seemed to hash out their differences during the Fresh Prince reunion in 2020, with Will admitting that he made it difficult for Janet on set.

Blake and Justin may have been lovers in It Ends With Us, but there was no love between them off-screen. The actress filed a lawsuit against her co-star, accusing him of sexual harassment and using "sinister retaliatory tactics" in an effort to smear her name.

Justin denied the allegations and filed a $400 million lawsuit against Blake, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist, claiming defamation and extortion. In April 2026, a judge dismissed 10 out of the 13 claims, including sexual harassment and defamation allegations, that Blake made against Justin.

Shannen, who passed away in July 2024 aged 53, and Alyssa both starred in the hit TV show Charmed, playing sisters Prue and Phoebe Halliwell, respectively. The pair reportedly got along well with each other initially; however, they soon fell out on set due to personality clashes and different approaches to their work, which resulted in Shannen leaving the show at the end of season three.

"There was too much drama on the set and not enough passion for the work," Shannen told Entertainment Tonight. "You know, I'm 30 years old and I don't have time for drama in my life anymore. To me it's sort of whatever. I'll miss Holly [Marie Combs] a lot and that's really the only thing I want to clear up.

Speaking about Shannen's exit, Alyssa said: "I think it's unfortunate that she left, and that she needed to bad-mouth everyone involved and the audience. She sounds really angry. I just hope I didn't contribute to that anger."

The Magic Max co-stars didn't get along during filming, according to Alex himself. Chatting on Bret Easton Ellis' podcast, he said: "Channing Tatum does not like me. For many reasons. Many being my own fault."

He admitted that he didn't pay rent on an apartment belonging to a friend of Channing, and that he forgot because his cousin had passed away. He said: "I should have just paid. I think he was looking for an excuse to not like me."

Although they were the best of friends as Carrie Bradshaw and Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, there was a very different story behind the scenes. Kim admitted Sarah "could have been nicer," and eventually hit out at her former co-star after she sent condolences following the death of Kim's brother.

Kim wrote on Instagram: "Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Although they eventually dated for two years, it looks like Ryan and Rachel didn't like one another right away. In fact, it was the opposite.

Speaking about their extreme tension on the set of The Notebook, director Nick Cassavetes said: "Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not.

"And Ryan came to me, and there's 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, 'Nick come here.' And he's doing a scene with Rachel and he says, 'Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?' I said, 'What?' He says, 'I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this.'"
