George Clooney and Brad Pitt might be best buds now, but there was a time when the former had nothing but "hate" for his future pal.
According to Geena Davis, George had beef with Brad after he won a role in Thelma & Louise that George had auditioned for.
Brad starred as J.D. in his breakout role in the 1991 movie, which co-starred Geena and Susan Sarandon. George, meanwhile, got his big break three years later as Dr. Doug Ross on E.R.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday, Geena revealed that George confessed his hatred of Brad during a flight.
"I got on a plane, and the flight staff was waiting at the entrance to the plane for me expectantly, and they said, 'Guess who you're sitting next to? George Clooney,'" Genna recalled. "And I said, 'Guess who he's sitting next to.'"
Genna said that George was in a "very gregarious" and "talkative" mood and went on to tell her about his dislike of Brad.
"And at one point, we're talking about Brad Pitt, and he says, 'You know, I hate that Brad Pitt.' I said, 'No, you don't. Isn't he like your best friend or something?'" she shared.
"No, I hate him because he got the part in Thelma & Louise," George allegedly told her.
Genna then asked him: "'Oh, did you want to get that part?' And he said, 'Couldn't you tell when I read with you?'"
Host Andy was amused by Genna's story and added that ultimately, Thelma & Louise cast the "right guy."
George and Brad have a great friendship now and went on to star together in the Ocean's franchise, which began with Ocean's Eleven in 2001.
During their time on set, they were notorious for pranking each other, with George revealing the extent of Brad's mischief in an interview in December 2023.
"My pranks, they could take forever, but his pranks cut to the bone", George explained to ExtraTV. "They hurt."
He gave an example of the brutal extent of Brad's pranks, stating that: "There are things where I just… I can't go home to my hometown because he's done something to me. So yeah, they're dirty, dirty tricks."
George and Brad's tight bond means that they feel perfectly comfortable taking the odd swipe at each other.
As George discussed Brad's pranks, he also chimed in that 'Pretty Boy Pitt', as he nicknamed the actor, "doesn't look so good, but with makeup and some visual effects, we're able to save him."
Meanwhile, Brad called George one of the most handsome men in the world in an interview with US Vogue.
He said: "If I was gonna name someone present, well, I gotta name that George Clooney [expletive], because why not?"
"Because usually, I'm always taking him out, and he's always taking me out. And this time, I'm gonna go the other way, just this once", he added.
Despite the pranks and George's former hatred of Brad, the duo has worked together seven times during their friendship, including in films Wolfs, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, and Burn After Reading.
