Anne Hathaway and her husband, Adam Shulman, embraced the viral "overdressed girlfriend" and "underdressed boyfriend" fashion code as they stepped out for the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027 presentation at the the Frick Collection Museum in New York City.
Popularized by the contrasting sartorial agendas of Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber, the trend is exactly as it sounds. The wife steps out dressed to the nines in a glamorous ensemble, while her partner opts for a far more casual look.
Anne and Adam posed together for photographs at the star-studded event, which took place on May 20. The actress wore a gray dress from the maison's fall 2026 collection, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. The caped shit gown featured quarter-length sleeves, a fold-over neck, and a large button adorned on the front. The sleeves were rolled up at the hem and the garment was layered over a white top. Anne accessorized with a set of Bulgari jewelry from the brand's Sepenti line, including a diamond-encrusted 18kt gold necklace, hoop earrings, and a bracelet. Anne carried a monogrammed Louis Vuitton trunk handbag and accessorized with a pair of oversized sunglasses and black heels.

Meanwhile, Adam wore a monochromatic striped zip-up jacket with a pair of light-wash baggy jeans. The jacket was layered over a simple white T-shirt and the outfit was completed with a pair of aviator sunglasses and casual sneakers.

Back in April, the actress gushed over her husband during an interview with People. "He supports me completely. This year in particular was unusual. He and I both know that it’s probably never going to happen like this again. And the way he stepped up, I mean, in every possible way, he’s the most extraordinary person I’ve ever met," she shared.
