Ming Xi and Mario Ho's wedding was full of firsts.
The luxury wedding between the model and the Boston Celtics co-owner was held at the Mont Saint Michel Abbey in the Normandy region of France, a process that took a whole year, but was done in support from the Mont Saint Michel staff and Centre des Monuments Nationaux.
"It was the first time in over 1,000 years that a wedding had taken place at Mont Saint Michel's abbey," the bride told Vogue, adding: "As it's something that's never been done before, a lot of approvals had to be made, but thanks to everyone, the planning process was fun and effective."
Ming's search for her dress, a Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, coincided with when Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson was working on his inaugural haute couture collection for Dior at the atelier, and was crafted by the studio and Haute Couture atelier.

"The iconic UNESCO World Heritage site of Mont-Saint-Michel had to be the setting for our wedding," Ming told Vogue. "We became the first couple in over 1,000 years to be married here, a thought that still feels surreal. Throughout the weekend, I found myself constantly pausing to pinch myself, hardly believing that this extraordinary place would be where we exchanged our vows."
Ming and Mario chose two of their "favorite wines from the region" to serve their guests at the reception, Corton-Charlemagne from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, a bottle of which can go from anywhere from $3,000 to $17,000, depending on the year, and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Échezeaux Grand Cru, a bottle of which goes upwards of $3,000.
"There were beautiful floral decorations across the abbey, and we exchanged our vows in tears," Ming said of the myriad of pink flowers that adorned the historic church. "Our son and daughter were our flower kids for the ceremony, which made the ceremony even more memorable."
The dessert may have been simple vanilla cake, but the cake itself was far from simple, a towering structure perfectly combining vintage cake styles with modernity, comprising eight tiers.
