Beyonce and Jay-Z's twins, Rumi and Sir Carter, celebrated their 9th birthday on June 13. The twins are likely to have spent their milestone day with their doting parents and older sister, Blue Ivy, as well as their grandmother, Tina Knowles, who they share a close relationship with.
Growing up in the public eye Rumi and Sir are certainly destined for the spotlight. Their older sister Blue has made regular red carpet appearances with her mom and dad - not to mention featuring in their songs and performing with Beyoncé on stage. Blue has been taking part in her mom's tours since 2023 and has taken on a larger performing role in the Cowboy Carter tour compared to the Renaissance tour. And while Rumi has begun to follow in her sister's footsteps, it seems Sir prefers to stay more private.
In celebration of their 9th birthday, HELLO! takes a closer look at the twins' very different personalities and all that we know about what they're up to today.
Rumi and Sir Carter
Sir was notably absent from the 2026 Super Bowl in February, marking the third consecutive year his twin, Rumi Carter, attended without him. Sir’s preference for staying out of the spotlight is something his grandmother predicted when he was just one year old. "The girl is just going to rule the world, and the boy is kind of laid back and chills like the dad," Tina said of the twins.
In 2024, Tina opened up about her grandson's interests and personality. "Sir is very quiet," she told E! News, noting that he gravitates more towards numbers than fashion. "He does all of the numbers stuff, so he's not into fashion as much," she explained. She added that Sir is "very, very smart," hinting at the diverse talents the twins possess.
"Rumi is amazing – an amazing artist, painter, and creator," revealed Tina, Reflecting on both the twins' creativity, she shared: "How could they be anything else growing up in that environment?"
Talking to HELLO! in October 2025 at the Angel Ball Gala, Tina was asked whether Sir would likely join Rumi and Blue in the future on stage. She replied that it was unlikely, given that Sir was not into the spotlight - the reason he has also chosen to skip public events.
Tina said: "Sir is very laid back and not into the spotlight, so I don't know, but who knows? We'll see."
