Heidi Klum just proved that she has never shied away from making a bold style statement. The supermodel took to Instagram on June 16 to share a never-before-seen photograph of herself as a child – and her hair color was wild.
The picture captures a headshot of a young Heidi posing for the camera, dressed in a red checkered shirt. Half of Heidi's hair was dyed green, while the other half was bright red, with her dark roots left visible for a striking contrast.
The gothic glamour extended to her makeup, with Heidi rocking a dark purple-hued lip shade. The edgy look is worlds apart from the blonde bombshell locks she sports today. However, Heidi has always been one to experiment with her look and often embraces playful aesthetics – something she's clearly had a passion for ever since she was a child.
Heidi typically leans into her gothic aesthetic on Halloween, having gained the title of the undisputed queen of the holiday. From her E.T. ensemble to wriggling down the red carpet dressed as a worm, the supermodel goes all out for the spooky season.
The supermodel dressed up as the mythological Medusa for the 25th anniversary of her annual Halloween party in New York City in November. The look featured a green, full-body snakeskin suit that boasted a reptile-effect layered texture complete with a long, curved tail and a headpiece adorned with moving rattlesnakes. Heidi even sported a set of sharp fangs, with her natural teeth covered by prosthetic gums.
Heidi Klum's background
Heidi grew up in Germany and moved to the United States in 1994. During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live in June last year, the supermodel opened up about moving across the pond. "I think being a foreigner helped me a lot coming to this country. I think people found me more interesting because I had an accent," she shared.
"I think that helped me in a way coming from Germany. It made it more kind of more exotic or something like that."
She continued: "I came in 1994 and I went first to Miami and I did a lot of, you know, test photo shoots there and then I went to New York City and just fell in love with New York City. I lived there for many years and now I live here in Los Angeles for many years. I have four kids."
