Penelope Cruz made a striking entrance at the 74th San Sebastian International Film Festival, stepping onto the red carpet in an embellished black minidress for a screening of The Invite.

The 52-year-old actress wore a strapless design with a fitted bodice and a sparkling floral skirt that finished just above her knees. Folded black fabric framed the neckline, while a shimmering central panel added texture to the bodice.

Silver and gold-toned embellishments trailed across the skirt in a pattern of flowers and curling stems. A fine chain draped around her waist, complementing the dress's intricate detailing.

Penelope completed the look with towering black platform sandals featuring ankle straps and an open toe, revealing her red pedicure. She carried a small black clutch and added gold drop earrings and a burgundy bracelet.

Her highlighted bob fell just above her shoulders, with softly curved ends and a full fringe framing her face. Dark eyeliner and smoky eyeshadow complemented the evening look, while a soft pink lip kept the focus on her eyes.

Smiling for photographers, Penelope posed with one hand resting on her hip as the dress's embellishments caught the light.

The actress starred alongside Olivia, Seth Rogen and Edward Norton in the film, which featured in the festival's Perlak programme. Its story followed married couple Joe and Angela as an evening with their neighbours, Pina and Hawk, exposed tensions and unexpected desires.

For her latest appearance, Penelope combined an elaborate dress with relatively understated accessories, leaving her neckline bare and carrying a clutch that complemented the black fabric.

Penelope Cruz's beauty routine

Penelope's interest in beauty began in her mother's salon, where she watched how a haircut or make-up appointment could change the way a customer carried herself.

Speaking to British Vogue in 2016, she explained how she approached her own red carpet preparations."The dress comes first and then we decide on a beauty look," she said.

Away from events, Penelope described a consistent skincare routine that included wearing SPF during the day and removing her make-up before bed. She also said she noticed a difference in her skin after giving up smoking.

Penelope's exercise habits developed from years of dance training. In a 2021 interview with ELLE India, she explained that she had studied classical ballet for 17 years.

She later incorporated resistance training and some cardio into her routine, exercising for around an hour three or four times a week. When she wasn't filming, she tried to fit her workout into the morning.

Yoga was another activity she spoke enthusiastically about. "I do Bikram yoga, which has completely changed my body," she told InStyle in an interview quoted by NewBeauty.

She described demanding 90-minute classes and said the practice had helped her feel more energetic. Asked by Allure in 2013 to name her favourite workouts, she answered: "Dance. Yoga. Pilates." Running, she admitted, was her least favourite.

Penelope Cruz's approach to food

Penelope previously explained that she enjoyed nutritious food without following a specific eating plan. "I don't follow a particular diet," she told ELLE India, explaining that she and her children enjoyed organic food.

She described a kitchen stocked with fruit, vegetables, fish and meat, alongside staples including rice, pasta and chocolate.

And when Allure asked about her biggest food craving, she had a ready answer: "Pasta with basil, mozzarella, and tomatoes."

Why Penelope Cruz prioritised rest

Alongside exercise and food, Penelope spoke about making time for sleep and relaxation.

In her ELLE India interview, she said she needed seven or eight hours of sleep and described transcendental meditation as one of the ways she unwound. Her bedtime routine also included reading and reflecting on the things she felt grateful for.
