Khloé Kardashian is bringing back the high-cut leotard – with a distinctly Kardashian twist. The 42-year-old reality star channelled Jane Fonda's famous 1980s workout era in a playful new photoshoot with sister Kourtney Kardashian, slipping into a bright red bodysuit and an oversized retro Polo Ralph Lauren T-shirt.
Khloé shared the images with her millions of Instagram followers, captioning the post: "Lemme Theme – Jane Fonda 80s core," as she posed in front of a row of grey gym lockers.
Khloé leaned fully into the throwback fitness aesthetic, styling her long blonde hair in a high ponytail and adding thick white socks, white sneakers and a stack of oversized gold bangles. Her crimson bodysuit featured dramatic high-cut hips, while the loose navy T-shirt was rolled and knotted at the waist for an extra dose of vintage gym-class glamour.
Kourtney, 47, went in a different direction, mixing 1990s cool-girl styling with the same tongue-in-cheek aerobics theme. The eldest Kardashian sister wore lime-green striped bike shorts underneath an oversized white graphic T-shirt, which featured a cartoon-style print and the words "Do not threaten".
She added delicate flip-flop heels and kept her long dark hair loose with a full fringe, striking a relaxed pose beside Khloé as the pair showed off their contrasting looks.
The shoot was created to promote a new release from Kourtney's wellness brand, Lemme, but the sisters kept the focus firmly on the costumes and the nostalgia factor rather than a traditional fitness campaign.
Khloé later shared more behind-the-scenes moments from the day, including a video in which she joked that Kourtney had invited her to one of the brand's themed classes and encouraged her to "lean in" to the Jane Fonda brief.
The sisters' tribute comes more than four decades after Jane transformed home exercise with her first workout video, Jane Fonda's Workout, released in 1982. The series helped define an entire era of fitness fashion, from leotards and leg warmers to bright spandex and sweatbands.
Jane's original workout look became so iconic that it has remained a favourite source of costume inspiration for celebrities ever since – and Khloé's red bodysuit, sky-high ponytail and sporty accessories were unmistakably a modern update on the actress's signature aesthetic.
The Kardashians have crossed paths with Jane before, with the Oscar winner recalling a chance meeting with Kim Kardashian at a nail salon years ago. Jane later joked that she found herself admiring Kim's famous figure at a Clive Davis pre-Grammys party, describing the encounter as a very sweet moment.
