Jacob Tobey was reportedly let go by the San Antonio Spurs after reports of an alleged affair spread over social media.
According to Front Office Sports, the play-by-play announcer "is out." The decision came after his girlfriend posted on Jacob's Instagram story in the middle of the night that he had had the affair.
While neither the Spurs nor Jacob, 29, have commented on the decision, news of the alleged firing and affair have flooded social media.

What did Jacob Tobey's Instagram story say?
On Tuesday, July 7, an Instagram story appeared on Jacob's profile that was seemingly shared by someone else.
"This is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her with Loren Waters. So feel free to continue following me if you really think I'm a good guy because I'm not. :)," the post said over a photo of Jacob and his now-ex-girlfriend, Kasserine Taylor.
© YouTubeSoon after, another post showed the play-by-play announcer kissing a woman in a photo booth with the text: "Me and the new girl LorenkWaters :)." Later, the caption on a photo of Jacob singing the national anthem was changed to "#cheater." While Kasserine didn't take credit for the later, it's assumed she changed the caption.
While Jacob quickly deleted the posts, screenshots of them were already circulating around social media. He has also since made his Instagram, X, and LinkedIn profiles private.
Who is Jacob Tobey's ex-girlfriend?
Jacob, who studied broadcast journalism at Suffolk University, dated Kasserine Taylor for six years. While there isn't much public information about Kasserine, it's reported that she graduated from Cornell University with a degree in biological sciences.

In the posts shared to Jacob's Instagram, Loren Waters was mentioned. Loren is the sister of the San Antonio Spurs player Lindy Waters III, who joined the team in July 2025 after playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, and Detroit Pistons.
Loren is a filmmaker and producer known for directing documentaries that focused on Indigenous people. She recently worked on Meet Me at the Creek, Tiger, and ᎤᏕᏲᏅ (What They’ve Been Taught). Loren and Lindy are members of the Cherokee Nation, and in April 2026, Jacob connected with the NBA star about being from the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe.
