Carrie Underwood looked unrecognizable in a new photo that she recently shared on social media.
The heartwarming throwback photo featured a young Carrie in 1994, as she donned a denim button-up shirt, white skirt, and a bun with bangs as she posed in front of a poster of Alan Jackson.
The picture is more than just adorable – in fact, there's a moving story attached to it.
Carrie performed alongside Alan on stage on June 27 in Nashville, and the star got sentimental online about that nostalgic picture and how her dream came true.
She captioned the post: "Life has a way of coming full circle. The very first concert I ever attended was @officialalanjackson back in 1994, and it changed my life. This little girl posing in front of his poster could have never imagined she'd one day be standing on stage at his farewell concert, celebrating this legendary artist whose music has been such a big part of her life."
The country singer added: "What an incredible and unforgettable night. I soaked up every moment...and we all sang along to every word! Thank you Alan, for inspiring generations of artists and fans. It was truly an honor to be part of your special night. #LastCallWithAlan."
Carrie paid tribute to that little girl with big dreams by sporting a full denim outfit and boots during her performance.
Fans react
Fans loved the wholesome story and flocked to the comments to cheer Carrie on.
One person wrote: "What an amazing full circle moment," while a second follower added: "Adore this, adore you! Thank you for all the genuine memories you share."
A third commenter continued: "I saw him throw you a pick Saturday night. You ran out and grabbed it so excitedly like you were still the little girl attending that first concert. One of my favorite moments from the night."
Another fan wrote: "You crushed it. Thanks for living in the moment out there too. I'm sure Alan and the band appreciated seeing you over there rockin' out."
During the special performance
When Carrie took the stage, she shared a sweet anecdote about her childhood.
She shared: "Back in 1994, a young Carrie Underwood went to the Tulsa State Fair. I went to see Alan Jackson. That was my very first concert I ever went to. Obviously, it made a huge impression," per American Songwriter.
The singer expressed: "I had posters of him on my wall. I knew every word to every song. I listened to his albums leading up to the show, and he did not disappoint in the least bit."
The star joked: "I had the worst seats in the whole place by the way, and it was still one of the greatest concert experiences that I have ever experienced."
"I bet tonight will eclipse that somehow. It is an honor to be here, honoring the legendary Alan Jackson," Carrie concluded.
