All the A-list stars who have been open about having hair transplants — including WWE superstar

Actor and comedian Joel McHale revealed on the We Might Be Drunk podcast that he has had four hair transplants. "I'm fully bald," the actor explained. "This is four transplants. I did it way back when it was a strip. Painful. Don't do a strip. Do plucking."

'Strip' refers to the procedure that involves removing a strip of skin from your scalp, but times have fortunately moved on. Joel added: "Now they pluck it from the whole back section, and it's a miracle."

Retired wrestler John Cena is now a beloved actor with credits in The Suicide Squad, Fast X and Heads of State. He underwent his first hair transplant in late 2024 and followed it up with a second round treatment in July 2026.

He told People he just wishes he'd had it done sooner: "I hate the fact that if there wasn't so much shame around it, I'd have gotten it done 10 years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 [men] suffer from thinning or baldness."

Bloodlands lead James Nesbitt has opened up to the Radio Times about the benefits of and insecurities around having a hair transplant, undergoing several procedures himself.

AJ McLean had a lot of fun with his hair while singing with the Backstreet Boys, and losing his hair subsequently came with some tough emotional processing.

He told Allure in 2021, "Losing my hair is something that I have personally struggled with for a long time. I ended up going to the straight Pitbull look where it's just bald, and since then I've had hair surgery. I did it right before I got married, which will have been 10 years ago in December." He added that he was going in for another round that year.

Cheyenne Jackson, star of American Horror Story, revealed he had had several hair transplants and wanted to share his story for those who might be feeling insecure about their own surgeries.

He explained, with a picture of the back of his head, "No, this gnarly scar across my head isn’t from life-saving brain surgery, nor did I narrowly survive a shark attack. It’s worse. (At least in Hollywood...) I had hair transplant surgery. 5 of them, to be exact over 14 years." 

He added, "I’m sharing because maybe this will inspire someone out there to share a secret they’ve been hiding, or show a scar that they’ve been afraid of anyone seeing."

Former Manchester United and England Footballer Wayne Rooney has taken a relaxed attitude to updating his look, revealing the decision via social media.

He posted on X in 2011, stating simply, "I was going bald at 25 - why not. I'm delighted with the result." Rooney, who featured heavily on BBC's coverage of the 2026 Fifa World Cup, underwent a second procedure in 2013. 

NFL player Brian Urlacher, who stands at 6ft 4, treated himself to a new look after retiring, having a 5, 300-graft transplant.

He shared his reasoning in a video on Restore's website, the organisation that facilitated the transplant, saying: "I kind of want to open the door so that men know you can do this. It's not that big of a deal anymore. You can talk about it to your friends, you can go and get it done."
