The anchors of NBC's TODAY have a variety of roles they fulfill when they're not on the morning news, from book clubs to game show hosts to, officially, mystery-drama producers.
Back in January, Jenna Bush Hager shared while co-anchoring the Fourth Hour of TODAY, aka TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle, that she will be putting on her producer hat to serve as the executive producer on a new mystery-drama coming to NBC.
At the time, it was tentatively titled Protection, but in May, it was officially changed to Line of Fire and greenlit by the network. And now, the show has an official release date.

"Back in the White House," Jenna captioned a clip of herself shared on Instagram posing for photos on the set, announcing the show's official release date of September 21 as part of NBC's fall 2026 line-up.
The hour-long drama airs at 10 PM EST on Monday nights, following The Voice.
Jenna's TODAY co-stars react
Sheinelle Jones reacted to her co-host and friend's exciting news with heart emojis in the comments section, while former co-anchor Hoda Kotb shared flame emojis as well. Good Morning America's Lara Spencer commented: "Let's go!!!!"
One fan enthused: "Cannot wait!!" with another adding: "Looking forward to it," and a third saying: "Thank you for bringing this to life! Peter [Krause] & crew are going to take this show to number 1 real quick!"
Who stars in Line of Fire?
The drama stars Peter Krause (Six Feet Under, 9-1-1) and Hope Davis (Flatliners, Succession). Kat Cunning, Tommy O'Brien, Taylor Bloom, and Charlie Barnett make up the rest of the cast.
© Scott Gries/NBCWhile character details have been kept under wraps so far, Peter is said to be playing family patriarch (and member of the secret service) Mike Hollingsworth and Hope is playing his wife Jane, with the Hollingsworth family said to be the center of the show itself.
What is Line of Fire about?
Per the network on the show's official plot: "When a U.S. Marshal falls in the line of duty, a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy as a family of law enforcement agents become the target of a mysterious assassin."

What has Jenna said about the show?
Produced through her company Thousand Voices, Jenna has stated that the show is partly based on her own experiences in the White House as the daughter of George W. Bush. "It really is super interesting," she shared on TODAY back in May.

She continued: "It's about a family of people that are in different branches of protective services, and there is this big mystery to it. But it's also about when you sacrifice time with your own family to protect others, what does that do to you all," calling it a mix of Scandal and Six Feet Under.
