For ardent viewers of NBC's morning news show TODAY, its regular staple of hosts serve as creature comforts of sorts.
However, the morning of Wednesday, July 29, for the second day in a row, a majority of the regular hosts were missing from their usual slots.
Who hosted TODAY on July 29?
On the main 7-9 AM hours, the seats usually filled by Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin were instead occupied by Sheinelle Jones and NBC's senior Washington correspondent, Hallie Jackson. The pair have been co-anchoring together since Monday, July 27.
Weekend TODAY meteorologist Angie Lassman delivered the day's weather forecasts in place of Al Roker or his usual replacement, Dylan Dreyer.
Kaylee Hartung took over for Pop Start in place of Carson Daly (who usually does fly in and out of New York while also anchoring for NBC's other properties like The Voice). And over on the Third Hour, for the second day in a row, Kaylee joined Savannah Sellers and Sam Brock, even introducing Craig's usual Wednesday tradition of the "Hump Day" camel graphic.
The Fourth Hour, aka TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle, maintained its usual staples of Sheinelle and Jenna Bush Hager, though.
Where is Savannah Guthrie?
Savannah announced earlier in the month that she'd be taking a few weeks off from the main show to head to Manchester in the United Kingdom.
She's been noted as being "on assignment for NBC" on the main show. Savannah is filming the upcoming first season for the Wordle game show, based on the NYT puzzle of the same name, with Jimmy Fallon serving as executive producer.
Where is Al Roker?
Al did tease that he was out of town on his social media, last sharing an update on Tuesday, July 28 with a video of himself exploring a new city while on his daily walk. He cryptically asked his followers in the clip to "guess in the comments" where he was, although noted he was in fact on assignment for NBC. "Where am I? No, seriously. Where am I? Help!" Al quipped in his caption.
Where is Dylan Dreyer?
Dylan is spending a restful summer week on a getaway with her three sons, Calvin, Oliver and Rusty. While she didn't specify where she was, she did post some snippets from her poolside surroundings, plus antics near a marina with the boys.
Recently, after her split from ex-husband Brian Fichera, the TODAY meteorologist and her three boys moved away from their New York City apartment to a much bigger home outside the city. Although they also maintain a beach house in New York's Point Lookout hamlet.
Where is Craig Melvin?
Craig's absence, meanwhile, proved to be the unplanned one. While the TODAY host had shared on Instagram that he was OOO for a few days, spending some time by the beach with his family, he was actually slated to return to the show on Wednesday.
However, due to inclement weather, he and his family ended up stuck outside NYC. Sheinelle noted it right up top, saying on the telecast: "He was supposed to be here, but then he experienced some travel delays from the storm," confirming he'll indeed be back by Thursday.
