David Muir may have a signature slicked back look, but he isn't always suited up.

The veteran ABC news anchor is best known for his routinely dapper appearance on World News Tonight, which he has hosted since 2014, weekend editions since 2007.

However, in his latest glimpse of life away from the news desk, he shared a rare look at a more rugged look of his.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, David, 52, shared a sweet snap of him inside his car, with none other than his beloved dog Axel, a German Shorthaired Pointer, leaning his head on the open window.

Meanwhile David is in the driver's seat, wearing dark sunglasses, and he has let loose his usual slicked back hair, his rarely-seen waves framing his face.

David recently returned home to New York City from a trip to both Spain and Italy, of which he also shared photos on Instagram, among them more snaps of him in rugged, suit-free moments.

Some of them see him arranging flower bouquets, while in another he is riding a boat in Italy, and in another, he's wearing a V-neck white shirt that highlights his bicep.

"Heart full and still smiling," he wrote, and fans and friends alike were quick to take to the comments section under the post and gush about it, with his 20/20 co-anchor Deborah Roberts writing: "You went to my happy place!!"

Others followed suit with: "I have missed your newscasts this past week. You are my favorite broadcaster of all time. You are as handsome as you are talented!!" and: "Looks beautiful, enjoy your well earned vacation," as well as: "Missed you but glad you were able to enjoy some time off. You are the most trusted reporter in the world!"

David is based in Manhattan, where he previously owned a townhouse in the West Village, which was reportedly listed for sale in May 2025.

In addition to his Manhattan home, David, who was born in Syracuse and grew up in Onondaga Hills, also spends time in his upstate New York home. The veteran reporter purchased the property, on Skaneateles Lake, for a whopping $7 million, according to records filed with the Onondaga County Clerk's office in 2019. Built in 1890, the 4,300-square foot residence boasts six bedrooms, two kitchens, three bathrooms, and a stunning fireplace.
