Ralph Macchio shot to fame at just 22 years old with a star role in The Karate Kid, becoming a household name as Daniel LaRusso, the 17-year-old trainee of Mr Miyagi.
Unlike his famous older brother, Steven Macchio has kept his private life away from the cameras, preferring to protect his personal life from prying eyes.
Their parents
Ralph and later Steven were born to Ralph Macchio Sr., who ran several laundromats and a wastewater company, and Rosalie DeSantis.
The couple raised The Karate Kid actor in Huntington, New York, the perfect place for the actor to get his start with dance lessons that would earn him a start on-screen in several TV commercials, after being spotted by an agent at a dance recital.

The actor’s family life
Now, Ralph has his own talented family with his wife Phyllis Fierro. The actor clearly owes a lot to his warm and welcoming family, as he and Phyllis reportedly first met at his grandmother’s house at just 15 years old.
The couple share two children, Julia and Daniel, with Ralph’s daughter starring alongside her father in Cobra Kai, the hit Netflix sequel to his famous franchise.

Leaving a legacy
Ralph is still best known for The Karate Kid’s triple threat of feature films, but that doesn’t mean the actor’s content to rest on his laurels. Instead, he’s still regularly working on-screen in projects like The Girl in the River and The Deuce.
He’s also returned to the franchise that won him fame, starring in the 2025 sequel Karate Kid: Legends.

Where is he now?
The actor is taking on a slightly different feature film role with sporting romance Love on the Hill. According to his IMDb page, Ralph appears as Angelo and is currently filming the new feature set in St. Louis.
Otherwise, Ralph seems perfectly content spending time as a family man on outings with his children and turning his attention to work on the stage.
