American Idol alum Chris Daughtry stunned fans with his incredible fitness transformation, 20 years after starring on the hit talent show.
The 46-year-old looked better than ever as he posed for a photo in the gym, wearing black exercise shorts and sneakers with his six-pack abs on full display.
Chris' body was packed with muscle in the snap, which also showcased his extensive arm and chest tattoos. "Hey #dannymcbride lemme get in on that @gijoe movie!!!!" he wrote in the Instagram caption, as fans rushed to the comment section to exclaim over his ripped look.
"Goals!... Looking at this photo makes me excited to hit the gym again," wrote one fan, while another added: "Proud of you brother, so much hard work." A third chimed in: "Amazing physique!" while another said: "Incredible transformation over the years. Talk about getting better with age!"
Chris shot to fame in 2006 when he competed on the fifth season of American Idol, and the singer placed fourth behind Elliott Yamin, Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks.
Despite the result, his debut album hit the top spot on the Billboard charts, and he remains the third most successful American Idol singer behind Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.
Chris' passion for fitness
Chris has always harbored a passion for fitness and working out, following a childhood tinged with illness. "Growing up, I always had really bad bouts of asthma and was kind of frail and sick all the time. I was a stick," he told Muscle and Fitness in 2020.
After his stint on Idol, the rocker's weight fluctuated heavily due to his demanding schedule.
"I hit the road, and it all went back downhill. You start drinking a ton of beer, eating pizza and whatever else is in front of you, and you kind of just do that everyday cycle. And after a while you're just so unmotivated to do anything," he explained.
Changing his life
"I [had] to change my eating habits. I [had] to change the way I look at food. I [had] to change my lifestyle and not make it a 'diet.' And so I started trying to dial it in, and then, this last year, I got really serious about it," he continued.
Chris noticed a drastic change in his stage presence after getting into shape, as he told the outlet.
"When I started taking my health and fitness way more seriously, my stage performance just got so much better. The energy that I was able to pour out: I'm all over the place. I'm always moving."
His preferred exercises include core work, running on the treadmill with a medicine ball, and weight lifting. He will also run around concert venues with his bandmates to fit in a workout.
As for his diet, Chris sticks to lean meats and vegetables like asparagus, spinach and sweet potatoes, and tries to eat light meals before his shows.
