He was an icon in the '80s, but Rick Springfield has earned himself a new legion of fans after a video of him performing shirtless resurfaced on social media this week.
The "Jessie's Girl" singer, who turns 77 on August 23, floored fans by unveiling his incredibly muscular physique during a performance on former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar's US tour.
Rick was clad in nothing but a pair of leather pants while he held an electric guitar to sing his hits at the tour stop in Noblesville, Ind, on June 14.
The 76-year-old looked ripped, displaying his toned arms and defined abs – and his youthful appearance set the internet ablaze.
"I bet Jessie girl regrets not hooking up with Rick, just saying! He does look good for 77!" one commented. A second said: "Rick Springfield defies the laws of aging."
A third added: "Honestly, it's wild how much energy he still brings to the stage. The voice, the presence, the charisma … none of it feels stuck in the past. Some artists age. Some just keep finding the fountain."
Rick's secret to staying 'sexy'
Rick revealed in 2023 that he works out "every day" to maintain his "sex symbol" status and follows a pescatarian diet after his attempt at veganism made him look like "hell."
"I work out every day," he told People when asked the secret to staying "sexy" in his seventies.
"I just got a trainer, and I've been working out with him. Basically, I watch what I eat, and I try and stay active."
He continued: "I tried being a vegan, and it made me feel great, but I looked like hell. A friend of mine came up to me and said, 'Are you OK?' I got so thin. So I had to put fish back in [for protein]."
Rick's life away from the spotlight
When he's not performing, Rick is happy at home with his wife of 42 years, Barbara Porter, with whom he shares two sons, Liam, 41, and Joshua, 37.
The couple met when Barbara was only 15 and working as a receptionist at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles.
He was in his late twenties at the time and admitted that Barbara was "too young" for him. "The English manager brought Barbara in and introduced her to everybody. She was only 15 at the time and looked like a mini Brigitte Bardot. I said, 'too young.' I just thought she was cute, and that was it," he told People in 2021.
A few years later, the two crossed paths again when Barbara was 18, and Rick was working on his fourth studio album as a solo artist, 1981's Working Class Dog. The singer, who had just broken up with his girlfriend, asked Barbara out. And the rest is history.
In October 1984, Barbara and Rick tied the knot in a ceremony at his family's church in Australia. A year later, the couple welcomed their first son, Liam. In 1989, Barbara gave birth to their second son, Joshua.
