Kelly Ripa opened up about how a key aspect of hosting LIVE! differed when she worked from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. It turns out that Kelly ditched her pants in favor of comfort, as she would shoot the show from her computer screen.
"Guess what? While you were watching the show and we were shooting from a computer screen, I had a blouse on top and nothing on the bottom," Kelly admitted during the August 20 episode of the ABC show. The 55-year-old host shared that she "loved doing the show without pants on" at the time.
Kelly also shared that she'd keep snacks nearby, too, with "a bowl of Grape-Nuts clutched in between my thighs."
"We would go to commercial break, and I would be Grape-Nutting it, and then, back to air," she explained. "It was great!" Kelly shared that working from home at the time proved to be a positive experience, as "some of us have been homebodies all of our lives."
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' marriage
Kelly and Mark Consuelos tied the knot in 1996, when they eloped in Las Vegas a year after meeting on the set of the soap opera All My Children. They went on to welcome three kids – Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.
During the episode, the couple discussed the "micro wedding" trend as they shared an insight into their own nuptials. "Weddings are having a micro trend in 2026. Tiny. A quirky cake. No big ceremony. Candles over flowers. Cost-effectiveness. This is the year of the cost-effective wedding. Ceremonies are out, parties are in," said Kelly.
She continued: "Brides are opting [for] secondhand wedding dresses. Because let’s face it: nothing’s been worn less than a wedding dress. Unless it’s my wedding dress, which now doubles as a beach cover-up."
Kelly's wedding dress featured a sleeveless design with delicate spaghetti straps and a figure-hugging silhouette. The entire gown was adorned with intricate lace detailing and finished with a graceful, floor-sweeping hem. Due to its wearable design, the bridal number has been easily reinvented by Kelly on vacations as a simple summer dress.
"The money spent on these parties and flowers and rings and dresses, it just doesn’t make sense to me. It never made sense to me, which is why we eloped. At the time, it didn’t make sense to either one of us. We’re like, 'That’s ridiculous,'" added Mark.
"I loved our wedding. Our wedding was great. $179, including airfare, thank you!" shared Kelly. The host then joked that the couple should start a "wedding service".
"Oh, I like that. They want a big wedding, and they come to us for counseling. We’re like, 'Don’t do it,'" replied Mark.
