Destiny's Child was one of the biggest girl groups in the world, but high-profile line-up changes and lawsuits plagued their early success.
Two of the founding members, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson, filed a lawsuit against manager Mathew Knowles, Beyoncé's dad, for breach of contract, defamation, libel, and fraud, according to Rolling Stone, after claiming he favored Beyoncé and distributed the group's earnings somewhat creatively.
LeToya and LaTavia were then replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin, who left the group after six months, and Destiny's Child became a trio.
© Getty ImagesThe lawsuit was settled out of court in 2002, and LeToya claimed in 2023 that all was forgiven. "Things happened the way they were supposed to happen," she said. "Baby, everybody's fine. We've done our therapy."
To prove her point, LeToya shared a photo of herself and LaTavia backstage with Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle at the "Halo" singer's Renaissance World Tour in September 2023, although she didn't share the photo until January 2024.

LeToya Luckett
LeToya has enjoyed a multifaceted career spanning music, TV, and films since she departed Destiny's Child.
Her recent TV appearances include the BET+ drama series Divorced Sistas. She also has acting credits in Starz's Power Book III: Raising Kanan, playing Kenya Pierce. She had prominent roles on Greenleaf, Single Ladies, and Rosewood in 2017, in which she played a con artist.
She has also starred in several feature films and TV movies, including 2010's Preacher's Kid, and that same year she appeared opposite Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher in Killers. Other credits include 2011's From the Rough, 2014's Seasons of Love, 2018's Down for Whatever, and 2024's I Thought My Husband's Wife Was Dead and One Night Stay.

Following Destiny's Child, LeToya released her self-titled solo debut album, which went platinum and hit Number one on the Billboard 200 in 2006. She scored another number one on the U.S. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in 2009 with her second album, Lady Love.
Her last album release was 2017's Back 2 Life, and her last single dropped in 2019.
LeToya also has her own YouTube talk show and podcast, Have a Seat with LeToya Luckett, where she holds candid conversations about life, relationships, and wellness with fellow celebrities.

Away from her career, LeToya is a mom of two. She shares her daughter, Gianna, seven, and son, Tysun, five, with her ex-husband, Tommicus Walker. She married her current and third husband, Taleo Coles, in July 2024 in her hometown of Houston, Texas.

LaTavia struggled with her abrupt departure from Destiny's Child and revealed that it took a lot of "therapy" to "become whole again."
"I isolated myself. I didn't leave, I was dismissed. Who leaves Destiny's Child?" she told Essence in 2024. "I was one of the people that was there at the start. I helped build that. I isolated myself because I felt my past started to come up with me, daddy issues, family issues. I lost my best friends."

LaTavia had a major career pivot after she was ousted from the group, becoming a motivational speaker, actor, and author. She speaks openly about mental health and her past journey with addiction and recovery, and announced her memoir, I Am LaTavia: My Story, My Destiny, around 2013–2014, although it remains unpublished.
Her acting credits include But Deliver Us From Evil, The Hills, and TV One's R&B Divas: Atlanta.
In 2023, she launched Le Papillon Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering, mentoring, and inspiring young women. She also has a cosmetics line, Queens Kollection; a fashion line, LMR Collection, which debuted during New York Fashion Week in September 2023; and is developing a documentary about her life.
