Marie Osmond has welcomed a new daughter-in-law into her family, sharing a glimpse of her son Matthew's wedding to his bride Kaitlynn.

The 66-year-old singer announced the happy news on Sunday, revealing that the couple had married on 8 September. Their celebration took place in Lindon, Utah, according to People.

"So much going on, but the highlight was that our son Matthew was just married to his sweetheart, Kaitlynn, on the 8th. It was such a beautiful wedding!" Marie wrote on Instagram.

The Paper Roses singer accompanied her announcement with photographs and footage from the celebrations, including a decorative display featuring portraits of the newlyweds.

The wedding display offered a closer look at the couple's elegant outfits, with Kaitlynn wearing a white gown featuring a fitted, sleeveless bodice and a full skirt.

She carried a bouquet of pink and cream flowers finished with long green ribbons, while Matthew looked smart in a dark suit, white shirt and pale-green tie, with a pink boutonnière.

One portrait showed the couple smiling and holding hands in a garden. In another, they turned towards one another against a backdrop of white columns.

Their photographs hung from a gold frame decorated with green ribbon bows, positioned outside a stone building with an arched window.

For Marie, seeing her youngest son begin married life was especially meaningful.

"Having a wedding is one of my favorite things in the world," she wrote in her Sunday Message. "Now that my son has found his perfect match, it's all the sweeter."

Welcoming Kaitlynn into the family

Marie had already introduced fans to her future daughter-in-law in August, when she shared a photograph from Kaitlynn's bridal shower.

The celebration had an ice-cream theme, with guests gathering beneath a sign announcing that the bride-to-be had been "scooped up".

Marie's affection for Kaitlynn was clear. Introducing her on Instagram, she wrote: "I'd like you all to meet Kaitlynn; she's absolutely adorable, and she's my son Matthew's fiancée!"

By the wedding, there were plenty of practical arrangements to make, too. Marie explained that one of her responsibilities was finding accommodation for her extended family.

"Did I say I have a large, LARGE family — and nine grandchildren?" she joked.

The preparations also prompted a trip down memory lane. Marie revealed that she had searched through old digital photographs to find childhood pictures of Matthew for the celebration, rediscovering treasured family memories along the way.

Marie Osmond's getaway with husband Steve Craig

Following the wedding festivities, Marie and her husband Stephen "Steve" Craig made time for a break together.

"I'm on a fun trip with my sweetheart, and we decided to take some time just for us after a very busy month," she told her Instagram followers.

The couple have a love story of their own. They first married in 1982 and welcomed son Stephen Jr. before divorcing in 1985. They later rekindled their relationship and remarried in 2011.

Marie shares her seven younger children, including Matthew, with her former husband Brian Blosil, whom she married in 1986 and divorced in 2007.

Reflecting on her reunion with Steve in a 2019 interview with People, Marie explained how her perspective on marriage had changed.

"The thing about a second marriage is that you realize things you thought were so important, aren't," she told the publication.

Why being a grandmother is Marie's 'happy place'

Alongside celebrating her children's milestones, Marie is making more room in her life for her nine grandchildren.

"Being surrounded by my grandkids is my absolute happy place, which is one reason I'm home more now," she wrote in her Sunday Message.

"I want to be a physical presence in their lives, so when they're with me, I'm determined to be absolutely present."

The singer has previously spoken with delight about the freedom that comes with being a grandmother. During a March 2024 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she explained that the experience had taken her by surprise.

"I thought I'd never love anything as much as my children," she told Drew. "Oh my gosh, grandchildren are like having your kids [but] on steroids. I mean, it's just, like, so cool. I can't even tell you."

She also drew a playful distinction between raising children and enjoying time with grandchildren. "And as a parent, you have to guide them," Marie explained. "You're not their friend; you're their parents."

"When you're the grandma, who cares? I can do anything I want."
