Blue Ivy Carter is growing up fast, and a new image alongside her mother, Beyoncé, and grandmother, Tina Knowles, makes that especially clear.
The 14-year-old appeared taller than both women as the three generations stood in a circle holding hands backstage at Jay-Z's Los Angeles concert. Beyoncé's longtime stylist, Ty Hunter, shared the moment on Instagram on October 29, following the rapper's October 23 show at SoFi Stadium.
Blue wore a red-and-blue Rocawear jacket, a nod to her father's clothing brand, with her long honey-blonde curls falling down her back. Beyoncé chose a green sequined fringe skirt and patterned blouse for the evening.
The singer's outfit was a Roberto Cavalli look, accessorized with a diamond necklace, oversized sunglasses and leopard-print pumps. Her former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams also joined her to watch the show.
Blue Ivy joins Jay-Z onstage at his anniversary concert
Blue wasn't simply there to support her father from the audience. She joined him onstage to play keyboard during "The Story of O.J." and "Dead Presidents," before hugging him, bowing and waving to the crowd.
The concert celebrated 30 years since Jay-Z's debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and 25 years since The Blueprint. Blue had previously accompanied him at Yankee Stadium in July, playing piano during "Feelin' It."
Kelly praised Blue's performance afterward, telling E! News: "She's so talented. She's just so talented. Beyond words."
The family photograph follows another appearance with Tina earlier this month. Beyoncé brought Blue and younger daughter Rumi to Houston for the opening of the Knowles-Rowland House, joining Kelly for the celebration.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Blue wore a green football jersey and light-wash jeans, with her curls pulled back. Beyoncé invited her daughters to join her onstage alongside their grandmother.
Beyoncé on watching Blue Ivy find her own talents
Beyoncé has spoken about the care she takes when involving her children in her working life, explaining that she plans around their schooling and tries to tour during their breaks.
In her 2024 GQ interview, she described how the children spend time with her in the studio and at rehearsals, naturally becoming familiar with her choreography.
She also highlighted Blue's interests beyond performing, praising her abilities in editing, painting and acting, and recalling how she had been inventing characters since she was little. Despite those talents, Beyoncé admitted she initially resisted the idea of Blue joining her onstage.
Blue's determination ultimately changed her mother's mind. "Blue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously and she earned it. And most importantly, she had fun!"
