Country legend Willie Nelson, 93, was married four times, and has eight children in total.

His second wife was Shirley Collie, and the former duo were married from 1963 to 1971, and the pair did not have any children.

Below we've delved into who Shirley was, all about Willie's affair, how Shirley found out about the baby, and what happened after they ended things.

Shirley Collie was originally from Missouri and she grew up singing for war bond rallies and on KFEQ-AM and KMBC-AM. She moved to Texas in 1950 and played alongside Johnnie Lee Wills and Bob Wills.

Five years later, she appeared on the TV show Ozark Jubilee, which led her to get signed to ABC-Paramount under a recording contract.

In 1956, she began using the stage name Shirley Caddell and she went on to release multiple singles including "Dime a Dozen," and "Why Baby Why" which topped the country charts.

Willie's producer Joe Allison reached out to her about collaborating on a song with him, and the two created "Willingly" in 1962.

She turned down a role on The Beverly Hillbillies the following year, to be a bassist on Willie's tour.

The duo got married in 1963 and Shirley became a stay-at-home wife, and step-mother to his three children, from his first marriage to Martha Matthews.

Shirley called it quits for a heartbreaking reason – the singer was not only unfaithful to her with radio star Connie Koepke, but he also welcomed a child with her, named Paula Carlene Nelson in 1979.

Shirley discovered a 1969 hospital bill in the house.

The bill featured the newborn's name "Paula Carlene," as well as his mistress' name, Connie Koepke.

In Willie's documentary titled Willie Nelson & Family, the singer admitted: "The truth is, Connie had been my girlfriend for several years before becoming pregnant."

Connie revealed: "The farthest thing from my mind was getting pregnant and telling my mom and dad, anyway it happened."

She continued: "Honestly, I was the next one, and I don't mean that in a bad way. It's just Shirley wasn't their mother, she was gone. I bonded with those kids so much. I loved those kids. They all became my kids, too."

The pair were together for 17 years, however, they got divorced in 1988. Willie married his fourth and current wife Annie D'Angelo in 1991, and they welcomed their sons Lukas, born in 1988, and Micah, born in 1990, into the world together.
