Katie Couric gave a surprising tour of her old dorm room on social media, during her visit to the University of Virginia, from which she graduated in 1979.
The journalist, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies, was also a resident assistant at the school, and stayed in one of the lawn rooms on campus.
In the heartwarming clip, the TV star knocked on door number 26 and was welcomed in by the new RA, Ava, who is currently living there.
Katie provided fans with an intimate look at where the start of her career took place.

Katie noted the major change she saw in the room, explaining: "Now you have a bunk bed in case you have out-of-town guests."
The broadcaster recalled: "I wanna show everyone – this is where I used to keep my dirty dishes, but this is a little water closet."
The lawn room fittingly provided a door to the lawn right outside, and Katie expressed: "It's so nice and this is your front yard…And your front yard is this, and here's the rotunda. They're doing some work there obviously, but how pretty is this?"

Katie also showed a long list of the RAs who have held the position over the years, and it featured her full name of Katherine Anne Couric, and she joked in the overlaid text: "Notice I didn't pan over to the year?"
She expressed: "Katherine Anne Couric – there I am! Hilarious."
Katie previously recalled just how much she enjoyed her time at the university with UVA Today.
© InstagramShe shared: "I love Charlottesville. I love seeing it change and evolve and grow and adapt, and yet maintain its historic beauty and values. And I think anyone who goes to school here hopefully has a good experience. I think you start bleeding orange and blue…It was such a formative experience for me."
The journalist continued: "I have so many great memories of being the RA on the Lawn, being with all my friends and sitting in that rocking chair and doing an American studies discussion group on a blanket on the Lawn."
Katie was honored at her alma mater last year, as the school unveiled a portrait of her for its President's Portrait Series, featuring alumni who have left a mark on the campus.
President Jim Ryan stated during the ceremony: "To say she's been a pathbreaker is an understatement."

In 2006, Katie made history by being the first ever female to solely anchor a major network's evening news program with CBS Evening News.
