Scott Baio is one of several actors who have turned their backs on Hollywood and become conservative social media personalities living in Florida.
In 2023, the Happy Days actor, 66, announced he was officially leaving California, alleging the state was no longer safe and soft on crime, also narrowing on its high number of unhoused people.
"After 45 years, I'm making my way to finally 'exit stage right' from California," he said.
© Getty ImagesThen, quoting a KTLA article, he added: "The most recent survey conducted by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority found approximately 69,000 people experiencing homelessness in L.A. County and 41,000 in the city in 2022."
His departure from Los Angeles
At the time, Scott had just listed his five-bedroom, 4.5-bath home in Woodland Hills for $3.85 million, which he bought in 2010 for $1.85 million in 2010.
He has largely retired from acting, last appearing in the 2025 film A Line of Fire, which was largely panned and stars Cuba Gooding Jr., who has also moved away from mainstream hits, and who has been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment and unwanted touching.

A long line of controversies preceded Scott's move out of Los Angeles. A lifelong Republican, he supported Donald Trump in 2016 and 2024.
In 2017, he re-tweeted a Sandy Hook conspiracy theory meme (the mass shooting claimed the lives of 20 children and in 2021, Alex Jones was found legally liable in civil defamation lawsuits brought forward by victims' families), linking it to the 2017 killing of Heather Heyer at a Charlottesville white supremacist rally, alleging both were government hoaxes.

His Charles in Charge co-star Nicole Eggert alleged on both The Dr. Oz Show and Megyn Kelly Today that he molested her beginning in 1986 when she was 14, and that when she was 17, she had intercourse with him. Scott admitted to having sex with her, but only after she turned 18.
Several months later, fellow Charles in Charge star Alexander Polinsky accused him of verbally abusing and physically assaulting him while on set.
