Al Roker swiftly left Today on September 28, right after presenting his daily forecasts.
Dylan Dreyer effortlessly stepped in for the TV star for the remainder of the show, as Savannah Guthrie announced: "We have Dylan taking over for Al, who had to leave a little bit early."
Dylan joked: "Yeah, a little switcheroo again this morning," without explaining why.
During the 3rd Hour of Today, Craig Melvin mysteriously shared: "Al had to step out for just a little bit. He'll be back tomorrow," as Kaylee Hartung filled in.
© Getty ImagesThe hit show may not have provided any news about his whereabouts, however, Al made his reasons known on his social media.
He shared a video of himself in front of the court house in a dapper gray suit, white button-up shirt, gray tie with paisley graphics and a brown hat, as he revealed a relatable reason for his fast departure.
Al wrote in his caption: "Hey now!!! All rise!! Time for #juryduty."
He said in the clip: "Well, got out of the Today show early cause I've got jury duty. It's everybody's civic duty to do your duty."
The journalist joked: "I said duty twice." Fans flocked to the comments to show him support.

A second fan commented: "Heehee. Enjoy your civic duty." A third follower continued: "Get it Al!"
This isn't the first time that Al has had to leave mid-show. On September 23, Al swiftly left due to an assignment.

Al has cemented his presence on GMA for over three decades. He kickstarted his career at NBC firstly as a weekend weathercaster in 1983, and soon after transitioned to the weeknight forecaster position.
In 1996, he became not only the weather and feature anchor, at the 3rd Hour of Today, but also a co-host.

The 72-year-old shows no signs of slowing down. He revealed to People: "Well, let's put it this way. I haven't thought about retirement. Somebody at NBC [might have] — that might be a different story."
He gushed: "I love what I do. I feel good. I love this job. I love doing it. At some point I guess I won't be, but I don't feel like that's anytime soon, so I'm just gonna keep going."
