The star, who played Sloane Peterson in the hit film, went on to appear in a few more movies and TV shows. She played Harley Quinn in the Birds of Prey series and starred in 1994 Sci-Fi movie Timecop alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme. However, after a role in the short film Pretty Pretty, Sara took a decade-long break from Hollywood, sharing that acting never made her happy.
"I never really had the resilience to deal with the audition process," she said. "There are some things in my career that I’m really proud of, but overall it was not a happy career for me." Instead, she chose to work as a poet.

Mia met Jason Connery, the son of James Bond legend Sean Connery, in 1995. The pair starred in Bullet to Beijing together and married the next year. Their son, Dashiell, was born in 1997, and the couple divorced in 2002.

Although Mia said acting isn't a career that makes her happy, she did make a return to the big screen in 2024's The Life of Chuck. Now 59, she starred as Sarah, the grandmother of Tom Hiddleston's character, Charles 'Chuck' Krantz.
And she hasn't ruled out more acting work in the future, particularly if it involves working with director Mike Flanagan again.

"I read a lot of crime fiction. I cook a lot," Sara told People. "I started when I was really young, and I met my husband, and I just felt like, 'I kind of need to get a life.' And I got a really, really good one."
